2nd Grade Social Emotional Learning Games (by date, oldest first)

Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.

I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".

Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.

This interactive SEL classroom lesson provides fun and engagement for the entire class, while reminding them that everyone (including Disney characters!) uses growth mindset and gratitude in their roles - just as we should do! This activity will have students using creative thinking skills, communication, growth mindset, and so much more! My students have loved this activity and ask to do it frequently (See Leadership Lessons from Disney lesson in my store as well!) I use Disney characters as most are familiar with many of the characters and it is fun to see their faces light up when they get it correct. One of the magical moments with this lesson is seeing how easily they connect with the Disney characters when reflecting afterwards. "Caught Ya Being Respectful" is a fun and engaging activity that not only gets students talking about being respectful and what that looks like, but it also encourages them to make connections of people (that they know and often admire!) that are showing respect around them as well! This activity includes everything needed for your next classroom lesson on respect, including two worksheets (Wanted Poster and Bonus Activity!) as well as different ideas that you can do with the finished products! My students LOVED this and it was fun for our teachers to see the outcome as well. We got a lot of learning and laughs out of this activity!

"Kind or Trash" gives a fun new outlook on discussing kind vs unkind actions for younger elementary students. While the discussion is great, this activity also gets them up and moving and looking forward to their turn! This activity had my classes engaged through the entire lesson and it created great conversation as well! The basket and recycling bin is a great visual for students as they are recognizing kind vs unkind actions.
