This is a great practice of finding the student's voice. They get a writing prompt that explains that they are in charge of finding a new mascot for Easter. They get to brainstorm some ideas for a new Easter Bunny. Then they can use their graphic organizer to format their opinions and why their mascot would be a good choice. Once they have finished the graphic organizer, they can then continue the writing process and write out their essay. Included in this download is a writing prompt, 2 graphic organizers, choose which one works best for your needs. Then there are 4 different writing pages. 2 have titles already on them, 2 have a place where students can draw a little picture.

I don’t know about you, but I love having options! Because of that, I have worked to provide different leveled newspaper templates. These could easily be combined into a multipage newsletter booklet if you so choose, or it could remain as a single page assignment. Halloween How to Writing activity. This can be used for differentiation within your classroom. There is one graphic organizer where students can draw out their ideas and write a small sentence of what they drew. The second graphic organizer has students begin with an introduction, list three steps, and a conclusion. You can use both for the planning stages, students will just need to combine two of their drawings for one step.
