Halloween Prepositions Adapted books

Adaptive Books with a Halloween prepositions theme cover a variety of prepositions (in, on, around, behind, beside, above, and under. This set of adapted books includes three books!
Two books require your students to follow the directions to put icons in the correct place. Each book has eight different pictures to place appropriately in the book. As part of the preparation process, you will want to add multiple pieces of velcro to ensure students demonstrate understanding by their specific placement of the icons.
The third book require your students to complete a sentence. Each sentence is simple, such as "A bat is hiding ______ the cabinet". A picture is provided to help the students understand the sentence to choose the correct preposition.
These books, while requiring some prep work, are a versatile resource that you can use year after year. They are a highly motivating activity for students with a variety of skill levels, empowering you to use them for direct instruction, independent practice, student share outs, or with your Classroom Aides.

Firstly, there are four close reading activities, or informational texts, about:
- A.A. Milne
- J.K. Rowling
- Roald Dahl
These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, crossword puzzle and wordsearch activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Secondly, there are three biography writing units about the same authors. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Finally, there is a discussion based writing unit discussing who is the greatest children's author of all time. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

The book, Real Friends by Shannon Hale and Leuyen Pham is great for children ages 7 - 13 years old, as they can relate with Shannon, the friends she makes along the way, the friendships she struggles to maintain, the lack of self confidence she has and she becomes more confident along the way, learning that you can have more than one friend, the importance of friendship, how to handle stressful situations, anxiety, conflict, and bullying. Students will follow Shannon along as she figures out where to fit in at home and in school. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text as well as students own experiences. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and example sentences are presented in the packet. Students can also write vocabulary words in sentences. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet. This is a book about friendship, getting along with siblings, developing interests, finding oneself, accepting change, starting a new school, being a good friend, being different from others and embracing those differences, being allergic to something and how it makes you different and accepting that difference. The graphic novel, Click! Kayla Miller is great for children ages 8 - 13, as they can relate with the characters. My students enjoyed this book because it is a book about friendship and finding where they belong or where they "click" as they navigate middle school. This book does not have chapters, so comprehension questions were separated by pages. Therefore, written comprehension skills are emphasized while reading.
