Tabletop texting is a great way to assess student learning on the topic you are studying in class. It is also a great way to foster student collaboration skills and keep students engaged.

STEAM Challenge - Design a parachute for Santa to land safely in the event of a crash landing.

Premise: the NTSB requires that Santa have specific safety gear in order to be able to fly on Christmas Eve. Students are to design a parachute that will get Santa safely and slowly to the ground.

I got my start educating in zoos and aquariums. I went to art school and graduated with a degree in graphic design, then joined the aquarium's design team where I worked until I had my two sons. I continue to design while raising my family and feel so lucky to be in a profession I enjoy, combining my two passions - design and science education.
