Less than $5 3rd Grade Black History Month Assessment

Celebrate Black History Month using this set of 10 of the most influential or Famous African American Innovators and Inventors Reading Comprehension Passages. Passages are designed for students in grade 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Each passage features a short biography of a famous Black inventor, followed by 8 multiple-choice questions that test the students’ understanding of the text.

The passages cover a range of topics, such as science, technology, and medicine. The innovators included in this set are:

• Garrett Morgan: Inventor of the gas mask and the improved traffic signal

• Patricia Bath: Inventor of the laserphaco probe for cataract treatment

• George Washington Carver: Inventor of hundreds of products from peanuts, soybeans, and sweet potatoes

• Madam C.J. Walker: Inventor of a line of hair care products and the first Black woman millionaire

• Granville T. Woods: Inventor of the multiplex telegraph and the induction telegraph

• Dr. James E West: Inventor of the electret microphone

This set is perfect for social studies reading, independent work, homework, or group activities.

Answer keys are included for each passage. Your students will enjoy learning about these remarkable individuals and their contributions to society.
