3rd Grade Creative Writing Research (by date, latest first)

This bundle has two online activities, using Google Forms and Google Slides, that span five lessons on the famous American civil rights activist, Martin Luther King. The resources are perfect for Distance Learning in third grade or fourth grade, and are ideal for students learning about the civil rights movement, U.S. History or for Black History Month.

Firstly, there is a close reading activity, or informational text, with comprehension and grammar questions followed by an extension task. The resource comes in two formats: a Google Forms document and a printable PDF.

Secondly, there is a biography writing unit. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning. The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided. A Google Slides biography writing unit about the life of famous Roman Emperor and the successor to Julius Caesar, Augustus (or Octavian). The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. Students will learn about the famous figure whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs by copying and pasting. In the second lesson the children need sort the facts in order before typing four draft paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.
