These word search worksheets will help your lower primary students or beginner ESL students of all ages learn the days of the week and the months.

This resource includes a worksheet with a blank grid for students to create their own word search. All of the days and months are written on the sheet. When they've finished making it they can exchange with another student and solve each solve the puzzle made by their classmate. 3 ready-made word searches are included. You can choose which one to give your students as each one is of a different level of difficulty. I like to print the ready-made search that I want to use on one side of a paper, and print the make your own version on the other side. I have used this resource with 8 year old students as well as 14 years olds.

The basic puzzle is suitable for grades 1 and 2. Words are hidden across and down only.

The intermediate puzzle is suitable for grades 3 and 4. Words are hidden across, down and diagonally.

The advanced puzzle is suitable to grades 5+. Words are hidden across, down, diagonally and backwards.

Halloween Sentence Stems

Use these 25 Halloween sentence stems / starters to get your students speaking or use them as writing prompts. These sentence starters fun at any level or age. Use these with primary or middle school students. I've included four completely different ways to use this resource. See the preview for more details.

25 cards to print, cut out, and laminate: Use these no-prep speaking prompts year after year. This is a great way to enhance your program by practicing oral production during the month of October.

25 half page worksheets to use as writing prompts: These are meant for primary students as they include space to draw a picture and there is only space for a short paragraph. These are perfect for literacy centers.

25 full page worksheets to use as writing prompts: These are meant for middle school students. These prompts are a helpful way to "get started" when looking for something to write about.

25 sentence stem strips: Print and cut out the strips, punch holes in the spaces provided, and hook them together with a ring. Students can read the sentence stems and complete the sentences by using words they have learned to form the remainder of their sentences. Provide students with a set of stem strips that they can work on at their own pace. Unlike the writing prompts, these strips are meant to elicit short answers.

These cut and paste worksheets will help your primary students and beginner ESL students to learn the days of the week and the months.

How to use these worksheets:

One worksheet is included for the days of the week and the 12 months are on two sheets. Have your students cut off the bottom part of the worksheet where indicated with scissors. Then have them cut out the days and months. Now they're ready to paste the days and months in the right spot on the paper. They should put the days and months in chronological order. Next to each numbered space there are lines where students write out the days and months to help with spelling. An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary and grammar when teaching I am / I am not / Are you. This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation / whiteboard tools. Go Fish / 7 Families - This classic card game is fun for students of all ages! Looking for easy prep literacy activities for independent work during differentiated reading instruction? This version of the game is for practicing I AM + ADJECTIVE and is excellent for ESL. Play this game along with my Dots & Boxes activity to provide differentiation, or save money and buy the bundle!

Each of the 7 "families of cards" begins with one of the following, and verbs in the present tense are used in the I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY forms:

How to play

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize the verb TO BE and the I AM + ADJECTIVE construction. It will have your students speaking to each other in English the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements about what they can and can't do.

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in a stack in the middle. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, "Do you have I AM HUNGRY?"

The goal is to come up with 7 complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn't have it, he says "Go fish". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!

How to use Trimino puzzle:

Simply print out and cut up the puzzle pieces and let your pupils put them back together. Students need to match the word with the correct picture.
