Severe Weather and Natural Disasters: Five Informational Reading Passages in B&W

This resource is an introduction to natural disasters. It contains five informational reading passages. It was made for the NGSS 3-ESS3-1 and 4-ESS3-2 Earth and Human Activity Standards.
It covers the following natural disasters:
Earthquakes
Floods
Hurricanes
Tornadoes
Volcanoes
The passages were written with third graders in mind, but the information is very interesting and complex and would be useful for upper grades as well.
There is a tips sheet for teachers and two recording sheets for students. One recording sheet is a graphic organizer for students to fill in as they read. The other one asks them to draw and label the natural disaster they have studied.
These are great to use whole group, in small groups, with partners, and even at centers!
There is a bonus mini poster on natural disasters as well.

This is a set of 14 science posters. There is a poster for each simple machine. Each of these posters has a short definition and photographs or several simple machines. There are also poster rounds for each of the words in the saying, "We'll simply put in less work! Recording sheets that can be used in multiple ways are included too! These recording sheets can be used in several ways. Form 6 groups and give each group several books on one simple machine. Then have groups share what they have learned while other students in the class take notes. Let them research simple machines online and have them record what they have learned. Make reviewing the life cycle of a bee fun with this engaging hands-on 3d diorama science project! Students learn about the bee life cycle and then they decorate a shoe box based on what they learned! Students are responsible for decorating the box and putting a creative scene inside that represents the life cycle of a bee. Students love it when they get to do projects and make their learning come to life!
Here’s what you’ll get:
What is a diorama?
A diorama is a three-dimensional scene built to illustrate a topic. Dioramas are small scenes created with layers of materials. A diorama can be made out of a shoe box or similar box that includes a variety of information and pictures about a topic.
Students create a diorama by cutting, coloring, painting, and gluing pieces inside the box to create a model that shows a situation, such as a historical event or animals in their natural environment. Students can be encouraged to add real features such as grass, sand, sticks, etc.
