End of the Year Line Plots: Interpret Data & Create your Own: Graphing

These are great end of the year line plots. There are two different line plots. One line plot students will read the data and answer questions. The other one requires students to measure how far they can spit the seeds of a watermelon. This last line plot requires the teacher to provide a watermelon for the class. But I promise it will be a fun filled math activity! You can take your class outside and do your math outside in the warm weather.

What's included:

  • 1 line plot with 7 questions to answer about the given line plot.
  • 1 line plot where students will spit and measure seeds. Then they will use their data to create their own line plot. (This line plot includes a letter to the teacher explaining the activity and how you might use this line plot with your class)

End Of Year Bar Graphs: Interpret & Create Your Own Bar Graphs

These bar graphs are designed with the end of the year in mind. Students will get the opportunity to interpret a bar graph and answer questions about it. Then they will also be able to create their own bar graph.

What's included:

  • One bar graph (1 page) about the student's favorite subjects at the end of the year. In this graph the data is already given and students will answer 6 questions about the graph.
  • One bar graph (3-4 pages) about insects they found on a hike. This one has students look at a page and count the different insects they see. Then they will create their own bar graph using the information they gathered. There are two different sheets for students to create their bar graph, one is completely blank and students will be in charge of labeling the whole bar graph. Another sheet has the insects and a scale already labeled and students will just need to draw the bars for their data. Then there is one page of questions for students to answer about their bar graph.

These bar graphs are ready to use, all you need to do is print them.
