Unity Day Writing Craft Activities Every Child Matters Orange Shirt Day
By You Are Special
Remember Unity Day and Orange Shirt Day with this engaging and educational foldable craft activity designed for 2nd to 5th-grade students. This resource promotes awareness of the importance of unity, kindness, and the message "Every Child Matters." It features four unique shirt designs, two characters (a boy and a girl), and two (groups of friends) reflecting unity to encourage creativity and personal expression. With 12+ thought-provoking questions about unity day, Orange Shirt Day, students can reflect on the historical and cultural significance of this day while creating their own foldable crafts.
(Orange Shirt Day is a day of remembrance that originated in Canada to honor the survivors and victims of the residential school system. It is observed annually on September 30th. The day aims to raise awareness about the history and long-lasting effects of residential schools, which were institutions where the government forcibly sent Indigenous children in an attempt to assimilate them into Euro-Canadian culture. Many of these children experienced abuse, neglect, and loss of their cultural identities.)
