Free 3rd Grade Social Emotional Learning Resources

Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.

I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".

Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.

2. Designate a Calm Down Area: Set up a quiet, comfortable space in your classroom with calming resources like mindful coloring sheets, sensory tools, and relaxation prompts.
3. Distribute the Pass: When a student feels overwhelmed, they can ask for the pass. You can also offer it proactively if you notice a student struggling.
4. Time for Reflection: Allow the student to spend a few minutes in the calm down area to relax and regain focus.
5. Positive Reinforcement: After the break, engage in a brief conversation with the student about their feelings and reinforce the positive choice they made.

Creating a calm and supportive classroom atmosphere is essential for fostering student wellbeing and academic success. A calm down corner, designed well, is a simple yet effective tool to help students manage stress and emotions, leading to a more harmonious and productive learning environment.

This Goodbye Gift Memory Book is a fun way for classmates to share memories and say goodbye to a student moving away. It includes pages with fun designs and simple prompts, making it easy for everyone to write messages, draw, and create a special keepsake.

Some students on my caseload are very quiet; either because they are shy, afraid, or simply don’t know what to share. Oftentimes, it can be difficult for them to open up so I created a worksheet that allows them to decide what they feel comfortable talking about. 

Because the worksheet can also serve as a coloring page, most students tend to feel comfortable in deciding their topic of conversation. Students simply color in the heart with the subject they’d like to address. 

This worksheet works well for 1:1 counseling sessions or for teachers who notice a student having a hard time. Simply pull them to the side, or place the worksheet on their desk and have them bring it to you when they are ready.

"Caught Ya Being Respectful" is a fun and engaging activity that not only gets students talking about being respectful and what that looks like, but it also encourages them to make connections of people (that they know and often admire!) that are showing respect around them as well! This activity includes everything needed for your next classroom lesson on respect, including two worksheets (Wanted Poster and Bonus Activity!) as well as different ideas that you can do with the finished products!
