Activity Packet 9: Falling Leaf Spelling Activities

18 pages

15 Fall themed scenes that provide sight word/consonant and vowel practice. Falling leaves contain letters which can be written on the lines to make as many words as possible using consonants and vowels. Color the scenes, put together letters to make words, compare answers, small team game included.

Great for consonants, vowels, spelling, vocabulary, and writing practice, as well as assessments.

Fall Halloween Bundle includes over 150+ fun activities!

This is a physical escape room to be completed after reading the Lorax. Students will answer comprehension questions for their clues along with spelling some sight words and vocabulary words. It all ends with them unscrambling letters to make the door code.

This will take some prep. You will need to print off all the clues (which I included some options already) like the gloves and the watering can. You then hang those up around the room for the students to find. Have a stack of clues by that item so students can get their next clue.

I would recommend having the students complete this in groups no bigger than 3 or 4. Each group will need a clue sheet so they can keep track of their clues and also provide you with answers. This also has the area where they will provide the door code. You will also need to provide the timer for the students. I recommend putting it on a projector board so all the students can see the time.

You start off by showing the students the intro message from the Lorax, then you provide the groups with the clue sheets, and Clue # 1.

If you would like to do a virtual escape room, I also have created one to go along with The Lorax.

Use fill-in-the-blank stories to build critical thinking skills for students in grades 2 and 3. Ten pages with two fill-in-the-blank stories and black and white images on each for students to color. Topics include: Back to School My School Recess Time School Rules Let's Eat! What Time is It? My Favorite Things All About Me A Day Off My Friends Great get-to-know students activities that help build relationships between classmates and teachers. Use to access skills, for discussion starters, homework assignments, and first week of class assignments. Works with individuals or groups.

These are fake Instagram posts that have pictures of activities. One post shows the activity happening in the present and the other post shows the activity either finished or happening in the past. The teacher will need to cut out the Instagram posts and the text boxes. Then the students will need to place the descriptions (inside the text boxes) with the correct Instagram post. The majority of the practice with this activity is focused on past tense, but there is also present and future tense.

**An extension for the activity is to have the students underline and identify the verb that shows the tense of the sentence.**

This can be used for multiple grade levels and would be a great support activity for upper elementary and middle school students who need practice with verb tenses (especially past tense).
