This product includes vocabulary, notes, and review for students that are learning about volcanoes.

Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this packet include: volcanoes, magma, crater, ash cloud, magma chamber, layers of ash, vent, lava flow, active volcanoes, extinct volcanoes, dormant volcanoes, Earth's crust, tectonic plates, lithosphere, divergent boundaries, transform boundaries, convergent boundaries, Mount St. Helens, and Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI).

This product on volcanoes covers what a mountain is, how magma comes up to the surface which causes volcanoes to form and erupt, explosive volcanic eruptions compared to effusive volcanic eruptions, students will look at a diagram of a volcano and will label the parts of the volcano using the key, students will learn where volcanoes are found and the three different types of volcanoes - active, extinct, and dormant. Where magma volcanoes form, how pieces of the Earth's surface move slowly, what is the lithosphere and where it is located, where tectonic plates are located in the structure of the Earth, tectonic plates and the three boundaries and how they are different from one another - divergent, transform, and convergent boundaries, students will also learn about Mount St. Helens eruption on May 18th, 1980, students will also learn safety tips and how to prepare for a volcanic eruption, students will analyze two charts: how volcanoes are measured using the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) and some volcanic eruptions in the 21st century, and students will choose a volcano to research and will answer questions after conducting research about a volcano in the packet provided at the end of the product.

Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions, true/false questions, multiple choice questions, will label diagrams to ensure comprehension as they are learning about volcanoes.

Solid Read Aloud is a monthly classroom read aloud that focuses on poetry for first, second, and third graders. The following poems and books are used throughout the unit: Bats, Flying Bats, and Those Bats from Can Teach; Stellaluna by Janell Cannon; Bats by Gail Gibbons. The Bat Solid Read Aloud is designed for a week long duration. During this week the read aloud will include: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction selections. Also included, poetry writing connection, graphic organizers, writing project, and art connection. This read aloud plan can easily be extended to fit a two week duration. The read aloud week will culminate with an art project which is used to display the students’ final writing piece. How can I incorporate poetry into my daily/weekly lessons? You may have asked yourself this question. Solid Read Alouds is the answer! Solid Read Alouds connect poetry to your classroom read aloud. Solid Read Alouds not only connect poetry but enhance your curriculum with monthly themes and national observance days. The Reptile Solid Read Aloud is designed for a daily one week time period. However, the unit can easily be stretched into two or three weeks. During this time the read aloud will include: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction selections. The unit also includes: comprehension work, reptile/not a reptile activity, anchor chart ideas and headings, compare and contrast work, research writing activity and penmanship work. This product is designed to enhance your curriculum, incorporate poetry, and infuse common core state standards into your teaching. The Solid Read Aloud product can easily be completed in approximately a daily 15-minute mini lesson.

These special education adapted Martin Luther King Jr. activities explain what Martin Luther King Jr. Day is, why we can celebrate it, and gives a historical account of his life and the importance of his work. Students will end this unit with a better understanding of our Civil Rights and how Martin Luther King Jr. brought about change in our nation. There are two levels included in this unit.
