Identify Fractions - Finding Equal Parts of a Shape Task Cards

The fraction files are back! To truly understand fractions, students must understand the basics of what a fraction is. One of these basic steps is to identify when a shape is divided equally (allowing for a fraction). This DOUBLE set of task cards gives your students ample opportunity to practice identifying equal parts of a fraction, setting them up for understanding the concept of a denominator. Works well with any fractions unit, but also works with Grade 3, Module 5, Eureka Math / Engage NY Math. Set 1 includes 36 multiple choice cards in which students look at images of shapes that have been divided. Set 2 includes 36 short answer cards in which students decide how many equal parts a shape has been partitioned into (or write zero if the parts aren't equal), Also included are 3 bonus worksheets to allow students extra practice at dividing shapes equally and recognizing when a shape has been partitioned equally. Identifying Fractions Digital Puzzle (Self Checking and No Prep!)

This product is a digital puzzle that requires students to complete 25 identifying fraction problems. The link to the digital puzzle is on a clickable PDF that you would download once purchased. Students will put the answers in the answer box (numerator/denominator or whole number fraction). This activity is no prep and is self checking. If the student puts the correct answer in, the answer box will turn green and a piece of the digital puzzle will appear in the green box to the right. If the student puts in the wrong answer, the answer box will turn red and no puzzle piece will appear. Students will know that they have completed the activity correctly when all answer boxes are green and all 25 puzzle pieces are there, forming a picture of a pug dog eating pizza. This resource also includes a student work page that includes a template/ extra guidance for students that are struggling with the skill.
This product would be great for fast finishers, independent practice, a time filler activity, day before break activity, center work, etc. Students will love this activity and the challenge of completing the puzzle!
Identify Fractions through Word Problems

Word problems and fractions! Your students are just learning to identify what a fraction is through various models. Now is the time to apply those models to word problems! The Fraction Files now include using word problems to identify fractional parts of a whole or a set! This set of 72 task cards include cards for students to read the problem, draw a model, and name the fraction given or fraction left over. A few cards towards the end of each set (36 MC cards, 36 short answer cards) are a bit more involved, with critical thinking skills needed to find the answer.
