Animal classification is when scientists organize animals into groups and sort them by what they have in common. This makes it easier for scientists to study animals. For an example: A whale and a dog don’t have as much in common, but a dog and a wolf do. Regretfully, a lot of amazing animals are in danger of becoming extinct worldwide! Less than 250 mature adults of an animal are considered endangered in the wild. These incredible creatures will go extinct and we won’t get to enjoy them ever again if nothing is done to save them and their habitats! Regretfully, there are currently more than 30,000 species of endangered animals. Students in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades can learn about these endangered species with the aid of these animal reports on endangered animals. Utilize the animal worksheets to write reports about animals by adding details about their habitat, characteristics, history, reason for extinction, and other details.
The following endangered species are included in the more than 18 available animal report forms: blue whale, bluefin tuna, camel, chinchilla, elephant, gorilla, honey bee, killer whale (orca), macaw, manatee, markhor, orangutan, panda, porpoise, rhinoceros, sea turtle, tapir, and zebras.

Classifying Plants and Animals Adapted Notes and Review

In this product, students will learn about the following: living things - plants and animals and where they live and what they need to live, nutrients and why they are important for plants and animals to survive, the parts of a plant - roots, stems, leaves, and cells. Students will also learn that they can classify plants by the shape of their outside edge, texture, and vein pattern. Students will learn the vein pattern in leaves - netted or parallel veins. Students will also learn about smooth leaf margin and jagged leaf margins. Students will learn about the texture of plants - waxy texture, rough texture, and smooth texture. Students will also learn about the stem structure - soft stems and woody stems. Students will then learn about the root stems - taproots and fibrous roots of plants. As students are learning about the classification of plants they will answer comprehension questions throughout the product to ensure comprehension. Students will then draw a picture of each part of the plant that they are learning about. At the end of the product, students will answer fill in the blank questions that review vocabulary was covered throughout the product.

A Scientific Method Activity Hoppin' Corn FREEBIE -

Use this hands-on scientific method activity during a matter unit, or as a fun science center. Perfect for some fun after break!
You will need:
- a clear jar (such as a mason jar)
- 2 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- 6 tablespoons white vinegar
- food coloring (optional)
The question and procedure is filled in on the recording sheet. Students will need to formulate and record their hypothesis, materials, observations, and conclusion. There are guiding questions to help students think about what happened during the experiment.
The reaction created by the mixture of the baking soda and vinegar causes CO2 to form, creating gas bubbles that make the corn "hop" around.
