  • An informational text or reading comprehension passage
  • A true or false fact sheet & maze

⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻⎻

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Isaac Newton and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards that cover key events of the 1600s before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

The Lorax Jeopardy Game

By A Teachers Sidekick

This is an interactive Jeopardy game that is focused on the Lorax. This can be used with the book and the movie. I recommend reading and watching both because the questions come from both forms of media. You can click on the game board points to go to that question. On each slide, there is a place to return back to the board.

I would recommend splitting the students into teams and having one be assigned as the speaker. You can choose to do the normal Jeopardy way of answering in the form of a question, but for younger elementary, I would not recommend that.

It is played like normal Jeopardy. So the first team to buzz in, gets to answer. If they get the answer right they add that amount of points, if they get it wrong, then they have that amount subtracted. If the first team gets it wrong, then another team gets to buzz in. There will need to be a scorekeeper for this game. I would also recommend having someone keep track of what questions they have already answered.

The only slide that is not connected to the board, is Final Jeopardy. So you will need to go to the last 2 slides for the Final Jeopardy question and the answer.

I really hope you enjoy it. This is my first Jeopardy game so please rate and review. Also, message me any feedback that could be used to improve!

Special Thanks to Plearn for supplying the Lorax Clip Art. Go check out Plearn’s Store!

Earth Changes: Weathering, Erosion and Deposition | Sort Task Cards

By Nardine Mettry

Get your students moving and grooving as they explore the dynamic processes that shape our planet with this Earth changes sorting activity!

What's Included?

  • Instructions
  • Title Cards: labeled "Weathering," "Erosion," and "Deposition."
  • Statement Cards: Description cards that detail various Earth changes, each corresponding to one of the three processes (weathering, erosion, or deposition). These cards come in the correct order, acting as an answer key for teachers.
  • Winners' Certificates: Fun and motivational certificates you can award to students or teams who successfully sort the statements correctly.

How to Play?

  1. Preparation: Print out the instruction sheet, title cards, and statement cards. Cut out all the cards neatly.
  2. Setting the Stage: On a bulletin board or wall, display the title cards ("Weathering," "Erosion," "Deposition") with enough space in between for students to sort the statement cards.
  3. Sorting Challenge: Divide students into groups (optional) or have them work individually. Distribute the statement cards face down. Students will shuffle or draw cards and then carefully read each statement aloud, trying to determine which process (weathering, erosion, or deposition) it describes.
  4. Checking and Celebrating: Once all the statements are sorted, use the answer key (statement cards in the correct order) to review the placements. Celebrate the students' understanding and teamwork (if applicable).
