Do you need some engaging Morning Work math worksheets activities for your students for 1st first day week back to school? These multiplication fact booklets can be used to help students understand the concept of multiplication through repeated addition using equal groups as well as help them memorize multiplication facts. There are twelve total booklets (1 facts-12 facts) that are each seven pages long and are cut into half to make a booklet that's 14 pages in total. Each booklet also contains a facts page for the multiplication fact so the student can refer to it if necessary. Check out the blog post about these booklets here.

The counting items are winter themed, so this is suitable for incorporation into a winter unit, however, it can be used at any time to introduce the concept of multiplication through repeated addition.

On each page students will fill in the blanks for the following details:

• number of equal groups
• number of counting items for the groups shown (e.g. number of hearts on the mitten, number of marshmallows in the cup, etc)
• write the repeated addition equation for the groups shown (not present in the 1's fact booklet) and add up the total. There is one blank for each group, so the 12 booklet has 12 blanks to fill.
• number of groups of counting items (e.g. 3 groups of 4, or 5 groups of 6 and so on)
• Finally, they will write the multiplication statement. This will help them to connect the repeated addition equation to the multiplication fact that they have written down and the answers can be compared to check whether they are the same.

The booklets can be used as morning work, bell work, extra activities for early finishers, or even homework. The booklets come in one version, for front only copies.

Teaching students these multiplication foundations, is a tremendous help to students as they work on math fluency and automaticity.

These KaBoom cards are a fun way to practice key arithmetic skills, with differentiation built in. Players choose whether they want to choose an easier question (red), but will receive less points for their correct answer, or risk a more challenging question (green) and gain greater rewards.

Packs included are

Begin by laying all the cards out face down (so you see only the number of points they are worth). Players take turns to select a card, either red, yellow or green. The difficulty of the questions will increase. They may also pick up either a Steal Card, giving them a chance to steal from any other player, a Shield, which protects them from the next KaBoom, and KaBoom cards which means you lose all your collected points so far.

Play as a whole class in teams, or print multiple copies to play in small groups around the table. If students get the answer incorrect, or they need some help, you as the teacher decides whether you will allow them another guess or not. Questions answered incorrectly go in the ‘house’ pile, along with any cards lost in a KaBoom. At the end of the game, add up the ‘house’ pile. The winner is the player or team with the highest points (including any shield cards that have been unused). The house can win.

Included are two copies of the game; one designed for a double sided printer and one designed for single sided printing where you need to turn over the pages yourself to print double sided.

Full instructions are included as are answers.

I love quick assessments that show me students understood the lesson. I built these exit tickets base on Into Math modules 1 -10 for 5th grade. I use these after teaching the lesson, sending home the More Practice/Homework page complete for homework, and then the next day they take the exit ticket.
