This resource contains 3 Social Media Safety Reading Comprehension Passages with Written Response Questions that focus on the topic of social media, digital, or internet safety.

The passages are suitable for students in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades but can also be used by 9th and 10th grade students to teach them about online media safety.

The passages cover the following themes:

• How to Recognize Unsafe Interactions on Social Media: This passage explains the signs of suspicious or harmful messages or requests on social media platforms and how to deal with them.
• Identity Theft on Social Media: This passage describes what identity theft is, how it can happen on social media, and the various ways to prevent it or report it.
• Cyberbullying on Social Media: This passage defines what cyberbullying is, how it can affect victims and perpetrators, and the strategies to stop it or cope with it.

Each passage is followed by written response questions that test the student’s comprehension and critical thinking skills. Answer keys are included for each passage.

Each label takes up 1/12 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 118 flashcards for a total of 10 pages (12 cards per page). As students are learning the 41 - 3rd grade sight words in this product, they will be provided with each word, an example of the word used in a sentence, and the opportunity to make up a sentence themselves using the word. I find that with my students who are Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL, when they make up sentences using each newly learned sight word, it helps them to remember how to spell the word, the meaning, and how it is used. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they can include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the 3rd grade sight word booklet that matches each sentence they come up with. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. This booklet is perfect for students that are on grade level as well as students who require instructional information to be adapted.
