Arthur Babysits is a great book to read for students to learn responsibility, not just with babysitting or taking care of a younger sibling or cousin, but with homework, cleaning their bedroom, etc. Students are presented with a variety of comprehension questions based on what happens in the book, Arthur Babysits. Students can answer these questions as the book is read to them, as they read the book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished.

This is a scavenger hunt using task cards that is based on Greek Gods which are part of what that are studied in the 6th grade curriculum within Comparative Classical Civilizations in the Eastern Hemisphere for Ancient Greece. This resource begins by challenging students with a mission, complete the tasks to solve the mystery word and four digit code to have the Greek Gods offer you immortality and a seat in Mount Olympus. Students will read about Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Hephaestus and Demeter. This activity will have students reading about each Greek God; their symbols, what they were god of, and their importance to Ancient Greek. Check out the preview to see what each task card entails. Students will need to walk around the room reading the task cards. Each task card has a code word on the bottom which is the answer to the question/fill in the blank. The answer will NOT be found on that same task card. For example, the answer to task card #1 is found by reading the passage on task card #8. Students MUST record which task card they found the answer on in their answer sheet under the “FOUND CARDS #” column. That column will be used at the end for the 4 digit lock code. They will follow the clues to find the correct 4 digit code. Once they have completed the scavenger hunt they will receive a half sheet of paper stating that they have received immortality and their seat in Mount Olympus.

This activity would be a great review before assessments, as a center activity, a group activity, etc. Students will be engaged with the learning while having a fun time trying to solve all of the clues!

Spring Blossoms in the Forest: A Tale of Four Friends. This mini comprehension pack includes a comprehension story, two worksheets (one for students to stick in their workbooks and the other for them to write their answers on), and a memo key for easy grading. This comprehension story focuses on the theme of Spring and follows the journey of four forest friends as they discover blossoms in the forest. It includes questions using Bloom's Taxonomy to help develop critical thinking skills. The pack includes critical thinking and creative thinking questions. By answering these questions, students will not only improve their reading comprehension skills, but also their ability to think critically and creatively.
