Positive Affirmation Counseling Activity

Need a fun social-emotional learning classroom lesson, self-esteem small group activity? Your students will LOVE learning all about positive affirmation activities. Using positive affirmations will help your students develop self-efficacy, nurture a positive self-concept, and be a protective factor and coping tool when life gets tough.

This Self-Esteem Project is about discovering oneself, recognizing and affirming one's talents, skills, and capabilities. It is also being aware of what we do that affects our self-esteem. By focusing on developing our students' self-esteem our students can cope with mistakes, help kids try again even if they fail at first, they can value themselves and their abilities, and help them be proud of the things they can do.

This module includes:

* Signs of positive and negative self-esteem

* Self-esteem concepts

* Quick inputs

* Tips for a healthy self-esteem

* Tips for parents to help raise the self-esteem of their kids

* Processing questions are included in each activity to facilitate better learning experiences

This SEL lesson is designed to promote self-awareness and understanding of emotions and feelings among children. It aims to provide children with the knowledge that it is normal to show one emotion on the exterior while experiencing another internally.

Developing self-awareness is a key component in helping children understand their own emotions as well as the emotions of others.

During this lesson, children will be presented with 20 relatable and realistic scenarios. Each scenario explores surface feelings of anger and explores the hidden emotions behind the mask. Understanding the complexities of emotions can support the student to foster empathy and compassion towards others.

The exploration of the complexity of emotions, including concurrent emotions, will improve children's emotional intelligence and social skills, ultimately leading to the cultivation of better relationships and the ability to navigate social situations more effectively. This lesson is designed to be engaging, reflective, and thought-provoking, and will be an invaluable tool for school Counselors and Teachers in promoting self-awareness and understanding among children.

This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students project their internal beliefs and fears about themselves onto the monster that they create and imagine and gain acceptance from you.

Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying. Students are encouraged to create their own monster and explore key aspects of their monster. This intervention includes various activities, reflective questions and worksheets.

Within this intervention the monster is also encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Additional creative stories will be journaled to support students to understand the distinction between imagination and reality. This intervention takes the focus off the child "lying" and allow them to explore it in a creative way that isn't directed at them.

This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the monster that the student creates and imagines.

Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a monster to support integration.

This file folder is a great concrete way for students to explore buddy vs bullying qualities.

Students are encouraged to match and sort the various qualities and reflect on whether they would be qualities a buddy would demonstrate or a quality that a bully would demonstrate.

This SEL lesson is versatile and can be used as a quick reference guide, a sort and match activity lesson, within individual or small group sessions or even as a whole class approach.

Laminate and glue this resource to a file folder for repeated use and longevity.

You will need scissors, glue and a file folder. Alternatively, you can assemble this resource using hook and loop adhesive dots. This is a great PBIS Resource to support the development of an anti-bullying and kindness mindset. This is a great back to school, anti-bullying and world kindness day workbook to get students started with the right foundation.

Being unkind is never okay. It is hurtful and it can impact someone for a long time. Throughout this book students will be asked to explore the difference between being kind and unkind. This Mini-Lesson explores empathy. Empathy is an awareness of other people's feelings and emotions and is a key element of emotional intelligence. Understanding how others are feeling and being able to empathise with them is vital for developing and cultivating friends.

Although being empathetic can be an intuitive skill, it is a skill that can be developed. This mini-lesson supports students to tune into the physical and emotional cues of others, to explore sensitivity and understanding of other perspectives, and be able to show compassion, empathy for someone else, as if you were that person or standing in their shoes. This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students to explore honesty and integrity and reinforce positive behaviours. This intervention is great for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students to embrace honesty and integrity and project their internal beliefs, fears and values about themselves onto a truth hero that they create.

Within this intervention the truth hero is encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Reflecting on the positive impact of telling the truth including on building relationships and trust with friends is explored in creative ways.

Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying.

This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the truth hero that the student creates and imagines.

Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a truth hero to support integration.

This SEL lesson is designed to promote self-awareness and understanding of emotions and feelings among children. It aims to provide children with the knowledge that it is normal to show one emotion on the exterior while experiencing another internally.

Developing self-awareness is a key component in helping children understand their own emotions as well as the emotions of others.

During this lesson, children will be presented with 20 relatable and realistic scenarios. Each scenario explores surface feelings of anger and explores the hidden emotions behind the mask. Understanding the complexities of emotions can support the student to foster empathy and compassion towards others.

The exploration of the complexity of emotions, including concurrent emotions, will improve children's emotional intelligence and social skills, ultimately leading to the cultivation of better relationships and the ability to navigate social situations more effectively. This lesson is designed to be engaging, reflective, and thought-provoking, and will be an invaluable tool for school Counselors and Teachers in promoting self-awareness and understanding among children.

This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students to explore honesty and integrity and reinforce positive behaviours. This intervention is great for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students to embrace honesty and integrity and project their internal beliefs, fears and values about themselves onto a truth hero that they create.

Within this intervention the truth hero is encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Reflecting on the positive impact of telling the truth including on building relationships and trust with friends is explored in creative ways.

Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying.

This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the truth hero that the student creates and imagines.

Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a truth hero to support integration.

This is a creative and engaging intervention based on Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) principles to support students to explore Domestic Violence.

This mini-lesson explores the following key areas:

- What is Domestic Violence and examples?

- Learning about the symbol of Domestic Violence (purple ribbon)

- Exploring fault/blame mentality

- Exploring Secrets

- Reflective Questions (feelings, thoughts, what if and what would you do questions?

- Exploring what you would do if you were not believed or listened too

- Your “Helping Hand” – exploring those who are in their support system

- Safety Planning (what children can do in an emergency and calling for help in an emergency)

NOTE - The purpose of this resource is to support children’s understanding of this topic to help them keep safe. Education helps to keep our children safe and work towards reducing violence and abuse in the community. At All Therapy resources we are devoted to increasing awareness of all aspects of children's safety, particularly that of personal safety and protective behaviours within Family Violence Systems.

This resource is more question and reflective based as opposed to psych educative. This resource has been created with a trauma-informed framework in mind to ensure that regardless of the student audience the questions can be utilized as either a foundation on which to either ascertain current knowledge or to ascertain thoughts and feelings on the subject matter. From such foundation, these questions allow students to grown in their knowledge and insight on this topic.
