This resource uses the innovative and effective Story, Source, Scholarship format that teachers content, source skills and scholarship skills in a single activity!

Have you ever felt this way?

Explain the SSS approach:

The pedagogy of success behind story, source, scholarship:

https://bit.ly/43rsKpy

When I started my procedure of historical enquiry unit each year, I wanted to introduce the all three skills. I was looking for a way to tell students about what the study of historical involves, how it is structured. But...I needed a way to explicitly teach the key skills concept that was engaging and efficient. When I just talked AT students, they looked disinterested.

Well if you know how this feels, this task is for you.

That's why I created this story, source, and scholarship resource. They enjoyed the examples and questions that encouraged the collaborative sharing of their ideas as they worked through the task. I could see that every student was enjoying the lesson, participating in the discussions, and understanding the concepts. It became a life saver.

It is a great introduction to the complexity that is involved in small events in history; easy, interactive, and engaging. I've found that it helps explicitly outline all the skills the students need to develop.

The task will cover all the content for a good, detailed understanding of the event or question. It is an excellent resources for absent students who need to covered missed work as it is a self contained, no-prep lesson.

What is Included:

• Overarching question linked to curriculum

• Guided Reading: A short passage explain the context and knowledge of the historical event or question

• Three questions to complete, one for each of the story, source, and scholarship questions.

  • RH.6-8.9: Analyze the relationship between a primary and secondary source on the same topic.
