This product is a 10 day project based learning experience focused on addition, subtraction, real-world problem solving, and word problems. This is a great way to help your students get to know each other better by working in small groups and give them the opportunity to practice using their skills with real world applications.

This unit includes:

• 10 day Unit Plan for instructor
• Instructors manual outlining the activities for each day

This fun, real-life 17-page activity (with complete key) lets students explore their own creativity in designing a road system between 4 towns. Students can DIY and only need an understanding of the Theorem of Pythagoras to be successful with this project.

The first real-life connection - Students will get a vivid and solid idea of what a transportation engineer does on a daily basis.

The second real-life connection - Honey bees build their honeycombs in an optimal way. Once students have come close to solving the challenge of an optimal road system, they will have come close to the design of a honey comb.

Do your students ever wonder when they will use their math in their real life? Well this project is for you! Party Planning is a project based math activity with real life scenarios. Students will use their knowledge of the 6th grade math core and prior math concepts to plan their own party. Some of the skills used in this activity are least common multiple, greatest common factor, percentages, unit fractions, multiplication, and more. Check out the preview to see more.

This project is perfect for the end of 6th grade for the students to put into practice what they learned all year in math. Party Planning has an array of different math exercises. It seamlessly integrates the 6th grade math curriculum with real-world scenarios, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts while igniting creativity. It could also be a great activity for the beginning of 7th grade math to refresh their memory of the skills they learned and will grow upon that year.

Join the Party Planning committee and:

• Use area to choose a venue
• Budget for the party food & buy the correct serving sizes based off their party size utilizing multiplication of decimals
• Practice unit price and percentages to calculate decorations for the party
• Apply their knowledge of greatest common factor and least common multiples to pick party favors for the guests
• Use absolute values to read and compare party game scores
• Interpret data and create their own box & whisker plots using mean, median, mode, quartiles, and extremes
• An optional final project with rubric presenting their party data to the principal
