Winter Holidays / Christmas WebQuest & Activities | Distance Learning

Three short activities with a Winter Holiday theme that your middle school students will love! Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are covered in a WebQuest / Internet Scavenger Hunt that help students understand the traditions of the different holidays.
There's also two activities that don't require computers: a word search puzzle with a Winter Holiday theme and a fun "How Many Words Can You Make?" activity that is great to play as a competition with teams.
Created for middle school, these lessons will work for upper elementary as well. Each lesson takes approximately one (50 minute) class period.
This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Christmas Around the World BOOM Cards™ Digital Escape Room Activity

A BOOM Cards™ Escape Room Activity about the history and traditions of Christmas around the world. The self-marking, NO PREP activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade.
The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.
In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Christmas and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.
In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.
In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about famous holidays, putting them in order from the earliest date in the year to the latest. When they have finished, their third word will be revealed.
In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.
