Day of the Dead Writing Craft Activities - Día de los Muertos Alebrije Projects

❤️Looking for a fun and creative way to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Hispanic Heritage in your classroom this October? Your students will love learning about this important holiday and how it is celebrated, while making beautiful alebrije (calavera, sugar skull) writing craft projects!

✏️Great to use in Spanish classrooms! Writing projects can be written in English or Spanish.
✏️Day of the Dead writing prompts allow your student to choose from a variety of topics and writing types (expository, descriptive, persuasive, narrative, poetry etc.)!
✏️Graphic organizers encourage students to brainstorm their ideas before writing!
✏️Use the cultural guide (included) to teach (social studies / history) about Día de los Muertos and the activities traditionally practiced during the celebration.
✏️Crafts are differentiated! Students can color or decorate their craft, choose from a variety of writing prompts, and writing sheet options (dotted vs. single lines etc.)
✏️Use the arts and craft writing projects (sugar skull, cat, or dog) to meaningfully decorate your bulletin board, classroom, or hallway, while displaying your students' festive creativity!
