The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe - Novel Study
By A Teachers Sidekick
This is a novel study of C.S. Lewis’s Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. In this product, there are completed lesson plans (and a blank one if you need to write your own), a slideshow that includes everything for each chapter (introduction, review of content, copy of the doodle notes, copy of the end of chapter activity/discussion outline, and the closure question), the Doodle Notes outline for each chapter, and the End of Chapter/Discussion activities. This novel study is for 4th-grade to 7th-grade students.
Lesson Plans
Each chapter comes with a completed lesson plan! The lesson plans include an I can statement (Chapter Goal), the materials needed, what students will be doing as a preview to the chapter, what they will be doing during the read, the activity after the chapter, some differentiation ideas, the assessment, and a closure. There is a spot for standards, but I did not include one because of different state standards. They are also all editable! It was made using Google Slides, so that will be the best place to edit the lesson plans.
Doodle Notes/End of Chapter Activities & Discussions
Each chapter comes with doodle notes and an End of Chapter/Discussion Activity. Doodle notes are notes students take that involve more drawing than writing. Students will have a prompt to help them know what to focus on while listening/reading the chapter and what to take notes on. The activities focus on multiple different skills, Central Idea, Supporting Details, Problem/Solution, Cause/Effect, Summaries, Story Elements, Inferences, and more. There are also 8 discussion activities where students will need to work in groups discussing a prompt about the chapter.
Slideshow
To go along with the book, there is a Slideshow that includes an outline for each chapter! It includes what is written in the lesson plans. So there are introduction slides for each chapter, a copy of the doodle notes and chapter activities, and a slide for the closure. The slides are also editable! So if you would like to add/adapt anything to fit your class/lesson better, just open the file in Canva or PowerPoint. I also made a Google Slides File that is easier to edit on Google Slides, however, you cannot edit as much. ***There is a slide that you will need to edit. It is the “Discussion Expectations” slide. This is because each class will have different expectations for discussions.**
Thank you for your support! I hope you enjoy it.
Please rate and review.

Nothing But The Truth by Avi Socratic Seminar packets and rubric
By The Red-Haired Reader
Are you looking for an interactive, student-led activity/ assessment for the end of Avi's Nothing But The Truth?
This file contains 2 different packets of Socratic Circle questions- packet A and packet B. Each packet contains 3 different questions that require students to answer and provide two quotes from the text to back up their answers. Students are also required to come up with 3 additional questions they will ask if there's time in their circle. Finally, the packet has a page where each student will monitor a partner in the opposite circle. They will make a check each time their partner speaks, and paraphrase a meaningful comment their partner made. Lastly, the file contains the socratic circle rubric.
When you print out the file, you'll see packet A on the top half of the sheet, packet B on the bottom half, and then the rubric as the last page of the file. You'll need to cut each packet page in half after you print them out, as each booklet you give to the students is only half a page. They are labeled A and B. Give half your class A, half B, and allow them to plan! The day of the circle, you'll let A discuss for maybe 20-30 minutes, then flip-flop your circles and have B discuss.
My students really enjoy Socratic Seminars! I have found it works better when you give each group three different questions, so you don't see the same discussion 2 times, which is how this packet is set up.
I used the Socratic Circle as their "final test grade" for Nothing But The Truth. The students need to have completed the whole book to answer the questions included in the packet.
Are you looking for a fun, engaging way to review the novel with your students? Check out my Question trail for Nothing But the Truth!
Please help my little business grow!

Click Graphic Novel Comprehension Questions
By Sign with me TOD
The graphic novel, Click! Kayla Miller is great for children ages 8 - 13, as they can relate with the characters. My students enjoyed this book because it is a book about friendship and finding where they belong or where they "click" as they navigate middle school. This book does not have chapters, so comprehension questions were separated by pages. Therefore, written comprehension skills are emphasized while reading.
The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text as well as students own experiences. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and a few example sentences are presented in the packet. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet.
Answer key is included at the end of the product.

Expanding upon earlier word sets, mastering this additional group significantly enhances reading capabilities and overall language proficiency. This resource represents a crucial step in advancing reading fluency, bolstering confidence, and nurturing sustained reading development.
Advantages of Fry Words over Dolch Words The Fry Sight Words list is organized into 10 groups of 100 words each, covering the most frequently used words in writing. Starting with the initial 300 words in early education significantly boosts reading and comprehension skills. While Fry words aren't strictly tied to specific grades, they're usually introduced in sets of 100 words to support gradual sight word recognition. Here's a general guide for introducing these sets:
The 6th to 10th sets of 100 Fry words are usually introduced later, depending on the student's mastered words.

ELA - Reading Fluency Self-Assessment - Junior/Intermediate
By Amanda G
Beyond the primary grades teachers often seem to forget about checking students reading fluency. This is a simple to use form for students to provide themselves a self-feedback on their read aloud fluency. Teachers can then use the same form to provide their own feedback on the students reading fluency. File states to use Audacity (a free download online) but other recording programs/devices may be used - this is just a personal choice/what is available on our school computers. Included in this package is how I used this program successfully in my classroom. Please don't forget to take a look at the other items I have available in my store!
