You came to the right place! I have been teaching for 5+ years, I have my Master's in Education with a focus on Literacy and I didn't know where to start.
So, I went back to everything I learned in my graduate program and re-read everything I could find.
I wrote & designed a student-engaging template to help students in my classroom to deeply internalize a word. I gathered key word lists when I didn't have a word from our daily reading, and thought about how to teach vocabulary so my love of etymology and words could be shared with my 10th graders. I've included all that and a guide to help other teachers get started with implementing and teaching vocabulary in THEIR classrooms.

Andy Warhol Biography Writing Unit | 5th Grade & 6th Grade

A biography writing unit about the life of famous American artist, Andy Warhol. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in fifth grade or sixth grade. Students will learn about the famous figure whilst working on their comprehension skills and developing their creative writing.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word and the sign for the 61 different noun vocabulary words presented using a, an, and the.
Students will learn the difference between a, and, and the while using nouns in each sentence. They will also learn when a and an are used and how they are different from one another as well as where the word the is used. Students will be provided with examples of how each word is used and then students will be required to make up a sentence using a, an, and the. Signs and pictures for each of the nouns are provided to help the students understand the meaning.
The words for each sentence are not in English word order. Students will unjumble the words that are provided to make a sentence in proper English word order. Each sentence includes a, an, or the. Students will also be provided with signs and spelling for the extra, unfamiliar vocabulary words that may show up throughout the packet.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Deaf Education ASL & English Has, Have, and Had Sentence Workbook

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word and the sign for the 54 different noun vocabulary words presented using has, have, and had.
Students will learn the difference between has, have, and had while using nouns in each sentence. They will also learn the difference between using has, have, and had in present and past tense. Students will be provided with examples of how each word is used and then students will be required to make up a sentence using has, have, and had. Signs and pictures for each of the nouns are provided to help the students understand the meaning.
The words for each sentence are not in English word order. Students will then use the words provided to make a sentence in proper English word order. Each sentence includes has, have, or had. Students will also be provided with signs and spelling for the extra, unfamiliar vocabulary words that may show up throughout the packet.

Deaf Education - ASL and English First Grade Sight Words Vocabulary Workbook

In this product, students will learn the sign and English vocabulary word for the 41 first-grade sight words presented.
This product can be used with students who are learning English and/or sign language. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.
In the first section of the product, students will learn the English word, the sign of each first-grade sight word, and the first-grade sight word is used in a sentence. Students will be able to write the name of each first-grade sight word in their native language. A picture is also included to represent each first-grade sight word. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 11 first-grade sight words and make up a sentence using each one.
In the second section of the product, there is a dictionary provided that includes the English word, the sign, and a picture showing each first-grade sight word.
In the third section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign, sentence, and picture that are included for each first-grade sight word provided. Students will then be required to write the vocabulary word in English.
In the fourth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each first-grade sight word in their native language on each line and make up a sentence using the first-grade
sight words presented.
In the fifth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the sign and picture that are included for each word provided. Students will then be required to write each first-grade sight word in English on each line and make up a sentence using the first-grade sight words presented.

ESL Primer Sight Words Workbook and Sentence Review for Newcomers

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word for the 52 primer sight words presented.
This product can be used with students who are learning English. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.
Students will initially write each vocabulary word in their native language after learning the English word and being shown a picture. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 11 primer sight words and make up a sentence using each one.
In the second section of the product, there is a primer sight word review that requires students to write the English word and the word in the student's native language based on the picture and sentence provided for each primer sight word.
In the third section of the product, there is a primer sight word review that requires students to make up a sentence for each primer vocabulary word learned in their native language.
In the fourth section of this product, students will then be required to make up a sentence using each primer sight word in English.

ESL Third Grade Sight Words Workbook and Sentence Review for Newcomers

In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word for the 41 third-grade sight words presented.
This product can be used with students who are learning English. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.
Students will initially write each vocabulary word in their native language after learning the English word and being shown a picture. At the end of this section, students will have the opportunity to choose 11 third-grade sight words and make up a sentence using each one.
In the second section of the product, there is a third-grade sight word review that requires students to write the English word and the word in the student's native language based on the picture and sentence provided for each third-grade sight word.
In the third section of the product, there is a third-grade sight words review that requires students to make up a sentence for each third-grade vocabulary word learned in their native language.
In the fourth section of this product, students will then be required to make up a sentence using each third-grade sight word in English.
