7th Grade The New Year Games (by date, latest first)

Winter break has come to an end and students will soon fill the seats of your classroom. Use this icebreaker activity when your kiddos return in January to engage your learners before diving back into the meat of things!

Students can go around the room and learn a little about their peers time off during the holidays by filing out their 15 question activity sheet by writing their classmate's name next to their corresponding activity. This is a great and informal way to allow students time to chat about their time away from school and build community by sharing commonalities.

This "Find Someone Who" icebreaker activity is sure to be a fan favorite!

Play French scattergories when you need quick, no prep activities to play with your class while they practice their French vocabulary, oral, and written skills. Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. You can easily modify this game to play it with all levels!

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.
