Anticipation Guides are excellent tools that can be used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic and/or to share ideas about key concepts. Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. The Anticipation Guides can help structure meaningful conversations that reviews what students already know and engages them in critical thinking about the topic they will be exploring. The statements in the Anticipation Guides can spark some great discussions among students!! This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Anger Management.

You can use an Anticipation Guide:

  • Before/after introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge
  • Before/after watching a film clip to gauge a reaction
  • Before/after reading a short text to begin a discussion

ANTICIPATION GUIDES

There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

▶️ Variation #1:

Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource offers ONE Anger Management Self-Assessment, prompting students to reflect on their skills using a rating scale: 2 for 'Always,' 1 for 'Sometimes,' and 0 for 'Never.' Anticipation Guides are excellent tools that can be used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic and/or to share ideas about key concepts. Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. The Anticipation Guides can help structure meaningful conversations that reviews what students already know and engages them in critical thinking about the topic they will be exploring. The statements in the Anticipation Guides can spark some great discussions among students!! This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Impulse | Self-Control.

You can use an Anticipation Guide:

✅ Before | After introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge.

✅ Before | After watching a film clip to gauge a reaction.

✅ Before | After reading a short text to begin a discussion.

✅ Before | After discussing a topic.


ANTICIPATION GUIDES

There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:

▶️ Variation #1:

⭐ Part 1: The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.

⭐ Part 2: The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.

▶️ Variation #2: This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.


SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource includes a single Impulse | Self-Control Self-Assessment. Students will use the impulse control | self-control - related statements to better understand their impulse control and guide them toward making thoughtful, intentional decisions. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.” They will use this assessment as a tool to reflect on their ability to manage impulses, identify areas for growth, and develop strategies to improve self-control in various aspects of their lives.

This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for initiating conversations about the importance of stopping to think before responding, considering the consequences of impulsive actions, and developing strategies to make more thoughtful and intentional choices.
