Feelings and Mental Health Activities and Tips

In this product, students will learn to ask for help for self and others, students will use their imagination and visualization to release bad feelings, recognize when a situation needs help, students will identify the adults in school to ask for help from, identify the adults out of school to ask for help from, understand what trusting a person means, students will learn how we are all connected, learn what it means to work as a team, learn about different forms of communication, and practice different forms of communication.
Students will talk about stuck feelings and how they get stuck, because you don't know that they are there, or you don't know how to let them go, a story about stuck feelings will be presented to students, and they will be required to answer questions about how they would best solve the problem if they were in the characters shoes, students will talk about pulling out their feelings, sending them away, and letting them go, students will focus on one uncomfortable feeling and will discuss where they can send it to let it go, so it doesn't return, students will talk about what they can do when they feel an unpleasant feeling, they will work on a feelings survival kit that will help them handle a situation in the future where they feel unpleasant feelings, students will discuss the definition of trust and who they can trust to help them when they are feeling unpleasant feelings, they will complete activities such as a buddy walk, trust fall, and trust drawing to help build trust, and students will complete a human knot and will work together with their peers to get out of the knot. Upon completing the human knot, students will complete the journal questions that are included in this product. Students will talk about the importance of communication and how we effectively communicate with others both verbally and nonverbally. Students will play the games telephone, charades, and hello with partners/groups and will reflect on their communication skills in the journal included in this product.
This product can be used for 4th - 8th grade, but can be used for younger or older students depending on maturity and academic level.

This resource includes 10 text message conversations, each offered in three variations to support differentiation, for a total of 30 worksheets. Text Message Conversation Variation Worksheet Details:
1. Worksheet #1: Contains two questions that are suitable for lower-level students. (These questions ask students to determine if the person has good social skills and support their answer with evidence. The second question asks students to think about how they would respond if they were in the same situation or similar to that.)
2. Worksheet #2: Contains two questions that are suitable for higher-level students. These types of questions are more inference-based and challenge students to think critically about the situation and individuals.

- You can print the Task Cards out on gloss paper or regular paper and laminate them. You may also organize them in a binder ring.
▶ POWERPOINTS - Editable and Uneditable (POWERPOINT and Digital Version)
There are two PowerPoints – one editable and one uneditable. The uneditable contains all copyrighted graphics and fonts and cannot be edited or altered, while the editable version contains the SAME exact format, but with graphics and fonts that are not copyrighted and can be moved around, edited, deleted, and/or copied and pasted elsewhere. You can make changes to the questions, add to the questions, move the graphics around, add new graphics, change the slides, etc. – YOUR CHOICE! After modifying the slides to suit your students' needs, you can simply upload it to google slides! Easy breezy!
The uneditable PowerPoint version is included in google slides. Students can complete it digitally, or you can show the slides to your students whole class. Text box has already been created for them to type in their responses if you choose to share the slides with them!
