A Treaty of Versailles Escape Room activity. Ideal for fifth grade or sixth grade, the activity is perfect for group work, starting a new history topic, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. In Task 1 students will read an informational text about World War I and the Treaty of Versailles and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

• ANY TOPIC! The game is a skeleton that you fill in. As the teacher, you can upload any number of questions and answers to the "loading page". The script will match up everything.
• Adding and modifying questions is easy!
• A different story every time. With a random list of encounters, question order, and endings, no two students will experience the worksheet the same.
• Students are allowed three mistakes or fifteen encounters before they leave the game empty handed. But fear not! They can try again!
• Are you creative? You can modify the maze the students need to complete including their starting point and the location of the "goal."

This product uses a script attached to Google Sheets called Google App Script. The code only modifies itself and nothing else. The first time you run this sheet, you will get a warning message from Google that will ask you to allow the script to run. The script is safe and can be viewed by going to "extensions -> app script".

Students will become familiar with the difference between reference, thematic and projection maps. This PowerPoint will ask student to examine 13 different maps and projections to determine what category each fall into. The answer is given by flying in a smiling face to the correct category. Teachers and students can discuss the reasons that each map falls into the category that it does. This would be used as an introductory presentation.
