Field trips are a great way to supplement learning, but often homeschoolers don’t get any background information on the location of their field trip and want to enrich their experience by expanding the learning at home before and after the trip. If you want to get your students to think about the world around them and understand that everyone in the world has the same rights, but not everyone actually gets those rights, this is the unit to do this. Using explanatory writing as the genre of writing, students learn about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, while learning how to write different explanatory writing formats.

This unit includes links to required media, a teach guide (with 21-day timeline) and a student book to get you started. The final assessment questions are also provided. Rubric/success criteria are to be developed with the class (I do not provide rubrics because of the differences in curriculum).
