Students love playing this "Vocabulary Match Game!" It is an easy and fun way to learn key vocabulary words. Students combine the vocabulary word with its matching definition using self-checking word cards. It can be played independently or in pairs. Scattegories is a fun and challenging board game that tests your creativity and quick thinking. I have recreated a classroom version for SPANISH LEARNERS called: ¡PÁREME LA MANO! also called in other countries, TUTTI FRUTI o PARA EL FUEGO. This is a fun game we used to play in school growing up in South America. I have tried in my own classroom and kids LOVE IT! This is such a great game to practice vocabulary and parts of the speech.

This product contains two versions of this game. One for individual play and one for a group game. There are a set of rules for both games but these are just suggested rules as you can set your own depending of the group of kids you teach. Kids will only need a dice, a white board marker and a wiper.

Students will have the opportunity to review the fall vocabulary words (pictures and words are provided for each vocabulary word), students can cut out the pictures that show what they see in the fall and glue them on the board provided called, "In the fall, I see..." (When I used this product with students I increased the size to 11 x 17, so the board could hold more pictures that showed what each picture that relates with the fall). Students will be provided with 18 pictures that they can choose that relate with the fall and 18 pictures that relate with other seasons. Students are also provided with a template where they can write about what they see/do in the fall. There are two templates - 1 for a paragraph/essay and another that allows students to write 5 sentences or 10 sentences.

Each of the 7 "families of cards" begins with one of the following, and verbs in the present tense are used in the I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY forms:

How to play

This card game is an excellent way to practice and memorize the verb TO BE and the I AM + ADJECTIVE construction. It will have your students speaking to each other in English the whole time! They will make affirmative and negative statements about what they can and can't do.

One player distributes five cards to each player (2 to 4 per group). The rest of the cards are placed in a stack in the middle. One player begins the game by asking another player to give him a card. He or she might say, "Do you have I AM HUNGRY?"

The goal is to come up with 7 complete families. The different verbs represent the families. There are 6 cards to a family (I - YOU - HE - SHE - WE - THEY). Students will find it helpful to group together the cards that have the same picture at the top (flower, flip-flops, etc.) If the player doesn't have it, he says "Go fish". If he draws the card that he asked for, he can continue to play and ask someone for another card. Each time a player comes up with all six members of a family, he can make a stack. At the end of the game, the player with the most sets of families wins!
