Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• An Overview of Ancient China
• Confucius
• The First Emperor & the Qin Dynasty
• The Great Wall of China
• The Terracotta Army

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, a crossword and a wordsearch for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are two biography writing units about Confucius and Qin Shi Huang. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Then, there is an informational writing unit about Ancient China. The unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Also, there is an opinion writing unit about which key development was the most important for Ancient China: the Great Wall, the Terracotta Army or the Silk Road. This unit has again been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is an Ancient China Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of Ancient China. There are 40 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the beginning of the first settlements.

This product includes 67 themed social stories that focus on the following. Students will learn synonyms that relate with each social story and different vocabulary words that relate with the theme of each story.

In each social story, students will discuss and answer questions that relate with one of the 67 feeling. Students will learn what they can do to feel better when experiencing a certain feeling, who they can talk to, how they can cope when feeling a certain way, how they can help their friends/family members when they are feeling a certain way, etc.

Each social story allows students to think about the different feelings when they discuss and answer comprehension questions throughout each social story. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of the characters. In these products, students will learn the following English words and signs for the following parts of speech: 146 nouns, 33 pronouns, 126 adjectives, 110 verbs, 74 adverbs, 44 prepositions, 42 conjunctions, 20 interjections, and 44 contractions.

These product can be used with students who are learning English and American Sign Language. It can serve as an in class practice, review, or quiz.

In the first section of the nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and contractions products, students will learn the English word and the sign for each given word. Students will be required to write the word in their native language if a first language has previously been mastered.

In the second section, students will be provided with a dictionary for the nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and contractions products that are reviewed. Students will be provided with a picture, the word, and the sign to help students make a connection and learn the word and sign.

In the third section of the nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and contractions products, students will be required to write each given word in English. At the end of this section, students will be required to make up 10 - 20 sentences using the nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections, and contractions that were learned. In the fourth section of the product, students can review what they learned based on the example sentence (if provided), picture, and sign that are included for each word. Students will then be required to make up a sentence using each word in English.

How can this product work for distance learning?

I personally have used these readings in my online classes during our COVID-19 closure with success! Use the digital file to post the stories with questions and activities on Google Classroom. The students can read the stories, insert their answers to the comprehension questions, and fill out one of the practice activities. You could also assign the stories ahead of time and set up a virtual class meeting to discuss the stories, or read the stories together as a whole class or in small groups during a virtual meet-up!

Introducing our NEW Accelertated Rock'n'Rollin'!

Accelerated Rock'n'Rollin' is designed for the beginning drummer in ages 13 and up, and even adults! The book is a combination of levels 1 and 2 which dives straight into reading music on the simplified staff with the abbreviations on circles (notes and moves students through reading drum music on the staff, learning note values, time signatures, and dynamics. In this book, patterns are called solos.

There are also a hand full of composing activities throughout the book. Remember that students should not be rushed through the book, and it is completely okay to keep students working on a certain section or pattern for a few weeks at a time until they’re comfortable.

To make sure they’re playing with accuracy, start off each pattern around 60bpm. You can adjust the tempo from there as they learn the patterns.

The book flows in the following order:

• Introduce the Instruments on a simplified 3-line staff.

• Moves to a traditional 5-line staff.

• Introduce notes as quarter notes on the staff, and changes cymbals to cross notes.

• Introduce Half Notes and Rests, Whole Notes and Rests, and Dotted half notes.

• Introduce Rudiments and Stickings.

  • From Book 2, “ROCK’N’RUDIMENTS” readies students to learn and play simple stickings in 4/4 and 3/4 times using Quarters, Whole, Halfs, and Eighth notes. These rudiments can be used for fills, and can be revisited later on. 

• Introduces beamed 8th notes (2 sounds in 1 beat.)

• Introduces Forte and Piano dynamics.

Students can complete all six worksheets of each set as part of a sub packet, but if you don't see them for a full block then assign only one page each day you're out (you'll get even more bang for your buck!)
