Volcanoes Adapted Notes and Review

This product includes vocabulary, notes, and review for students that are learning about volcanoes.
Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this packet include: volcanoes, magma, crater, ash cloud, magma chamber, layers of ash, vent, lava flow, active volcanoes, extinct volcanoes, dormant volcanoes, Earth's crust, tectonic plates, lithosphere, divergent boundaries, transform boundaries, convergent boundaries, Mount St. Helens, and Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI).
This product on volcanoes covers what a mountain is, how magma comes up to the surface which causes volcanoes to form and erupt, explosive volcanic eruptions compared to effusive volcanic eruptions, students will look at a diagram of a volcano and will label the parts of the volcano using the key, students will learn where volcanoes are found and the three different types of volcanoes - active, extinct, and dormant. Where magma volcanoes form, how pieces of the Earth's surface move slowly, what is the lithosphere and where it is located, where tectonic plates are located in the structure of the Earth, tectonic plates and the three boundaries and how they are different from one another - divergent, transform, and convergent boundaries, students will also learn about Mount St. Helens eruption on May 18th, 1980, students will also learn safety tips and how to prepare for a volcanic eruption, students will analyze two charts: how volcanoes are measured using the Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI) and some volcanic eruptions in the 21st century, and students will choose a volcano to research and will answer questions after conducting research about a volcano in the packet provided at the end of the product.
Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions, true/false questions, multiple choice questions, will label diagrams to ensure comprehension as they are learning about volcanoes.

When students are reading through this product, they are given the opportunity to complete fill in the blank questions using a key along with short answer questions that relate with previous slides. The Berenstain Bears Don't Pollute Anymore Comprehension Questions product is useful for students that read the book. The questions are placed in order with the book. Students can answer these questions as the book is read or after they have finished reading the book or listening to the book. While reading this book and answering these questions, students will learn about pollution, endangered animals, surviving in our environment, importance of clean air, water, and healthy soil to grow food, planting trees when trees are cut down, ecology, conservation, recycling, reducing pollution in your community, things to recycle, and how to help your environment. In this packet, students can also complete a mini endangered animal report where they will be required to chose an endangered animal from the list provided and answer questions about that animal, such as where it lives (habitat), what it eats, how long it lives for, interesting facts about that animal, etc. Students can answer the short answer questions, yes/no questions, multiple choice questions, and vocabulary/picture labeling questions as the book is read to them, as they read the book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and examples of the words used in sentences are presented. Students have the opportunity to use those words in sentences as well.

This product focuses on the following areas: eye vocabulary - pupil, lens, retina, optometrist, ophthalmologist, mucus, ultraviolet A (UVA), ultraviolet B (UVB), contact lenses, cilia, nearsighted, farsighted, the parts of the eye, how we see things through the pupil, lens, and retina, how to maintain healthy eyes, what could damage your eyes, visiting the doctor for an eye exam, what an optometrist and ophthalmologist does, what to do if your eyes itch or burn, wearing sunglasses in the sun, the different between UVA and UVB rays, how to maintain safety when completing projects or participating in sports, eyeglasses, contact lenses, laser eye surgery, how to improve vision, vision difficulties - nearsighted and farsighted, taking care of your eyes, how pathogens enter the body, how to prevent pathogens from getting into the body, how your immune system - skin, ears, nose, throat, eyes, and stomach work together to fight pathogens from entering the body, parts of the eye - iris, pupil, lens, retina, optic nerve. Students will have the opportunity to complete short answer questions, fill in the blank, and label the parts of the eye without and without a key in this product.

Food Webs Adapted Notes and Review

In this product, students will learn about food webs. Notes and review have been adapted to meet students' individual learnings needs. Students will learn what food webs are and what they look like. Students will compare food chains and food webs and discuss how they are similar and different from one another. Students will review the food chain - the sun, producers, first-level consumers, second-level consumers, third-level consumers, and decomposers. Students will look at food webs and determine the groups of food chains that are in a given food web. Students will answer comprehension questions throughout this product to ensure understanding and at the end of the product vocabulary review questions are asked.
