I use this form for students to keep track of the objectives for the day. At the end of class they are required to write something that they learned or maybe something that they already knew that we went into more depth about. They are also required to state something that they want more information about or would clarify something that we talked about. This is a simple way to quickly assess the lesson. I use this along side our student planners and agendas. This is sometimes my ticket out the door.

Hello and welcome!

Are you math teacher and have been thrown into teaching a computer science course? Now you have NO IDEA where to start! Have you taught computer science, but want to try something else? Math and computer science are related, but are not the same!

I have your back. I've been teaching math and computer science, including APCSP, APCSA, and Data Structures for almost two decades. I also teach an introduction course. This is part of the course I made up for my intro students. I have a BS in computer science and know what students need to know.

This is part 0 ("computer people" start counting at 0, we'll learn why!) and part 1 of an introductory Programming in Java lesson. These lessons are meant to be done on the first few days; the idea is to get students doing cool stuff as fast as possible. With Java, that is NOT an easy task.

Depending on your style, you could go over Programming in Java 0 on day 1, then let students play around. Go over Programming in Java 1 the next day and give them the attached assignment. Or you could just give them the slides and assignment and let them play.

Let students explore and make mistakes. Let them talk to each other and discuss their approaches. Programming takes a lot of trial and error.

My bell ringers are color-coded. Red slides should be covered on Monday, yellow on Tuesday, green on Wednesday (missing from preview), blue on Thursday, and purple on Friday.

Sentence diagramming is so helpful when teaching students parts of speech and sentence structure. The repetitiveness of diagramming for a bell ringer is extremely beneficial for students. I tried grammar workbooks for years, but my students hardly retained anything. Daily sentence diagramming made them remember their parts of speech, and was an amazing foundation for my students to have when we started forming different types of sentences. They picked up on fixing run-ons quickly as well because of their diagramming foundation.

Are you looking to engage your students in the study of FDR's New Deal? This New Deal Matching Game is the perfect way to get your students excited and engaged with history. SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource includes a single Body Language Self-Assessment. Students will use the body language - related statements to reflect on their understanding of nonverbal communication, evaluate their ability to interpret and respect others’ cues, and identify areas where they can improve. This page provides you with a simple way to write anecdotal notes as you wander around the room observing your students working. This form is completely customizable allowing your to insert the goal, grade, term etc. There is space for each students name and a line for your comments/observations. This form is not subject specific.

I believe that students need to address missed questions on a test rather than just accept the grade and move on to the next topic. This test correction sheet does just that. They have to rework the problem (using their notes) and explain what they did wrong. I love this page!!
