I use this form for students to keep track of the objectives for the day. At the end of class they are required to write something that they learned or maybe something that they already knew that we went into more depth about. They are also required to state something that they want more information about or would clarify something that we talked about. This is a simple way to quickly assess the lesson. I use this along side our student planners and agendas. This is sometimes my ticket out the door.

I created a French SOR Assessment tool to cover all the sounds for students K to 3 in the French Immersion setting (Grade 4-6 Core French) for easy assessment and evaluation. Once I got started on my own testing, I realized I could use a quick look tracking sheet.

My bell ringers are color-coded. Red slides should be covered on Monday, yellow on Tuesday, green on Wednesday (missing from preview), blue on Thursday, and purple on Friday.

Sentence diagramming is so helpful when teaching students parts of speech and sentence structure. The repetitiveness of diagramming for a bell ringer is extremely beneficial for students. I tried grammar workbooks for years, but my students hardly retained anything. Daily sentence diagramming made them remember their parts of speech, and was an amazing foundation for my students to have when we started forming different types of sentences. They picked up on fixing run-ons quickly as well because of their diagramming foundation.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

This resource includes a single Body Language Self-Assessment. This 4-page pre-reading handout provides students with important background information for understanding William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. This resource includes a two-page handout on the history of the Roman Republic. The resource also included is a comprehension check and answer key so that teachers can assess whether students have understood important details from the handout.

Learning about the history of the Roman Republic will provide students with the contextual information necessary for understanding certain lines in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.
