Real-Life Math fun activity! Multiplying Binomials- To FOIL quickly accurately

It is always a good strategy to review essential skills with your students, and this is right up there with the most essential!
Lots of practice to FOIL binomials well. This task builds up from basic multiplication of whole numbers to complex binomials. The six tasks build gradually in complexity and involves 1) multiplying whole numbers, 2) multiplying integers, 3) multiplying positive monomials, 4) multiplying positive and negative monomials with binomials, 5) multiplying binomials with leading coefficient of 1 and 6) multiplying binomials with leading coefficient different from 1.
Students will clarify the following topics through thorough practice:
- multiplying positive and negative numbers
- adding and subtracting like terms
- exponential laws

Real-Life Math fun Practicing Substitution, interesting Prime Number Discovery!

Algebraic substitution is not very exciting at best. Finding a formula that always generates prime numbers will make you world famous. This task card combines the two math skills into an exciting discovery exercise. Students get to explore the effectiveness of certain formulas in generating primes (while they are doing lots of substitution). Eventually they will see that this exercise is futile, but will hopefully have fun on the journey.

The task concisely reviews the steps contained in the Exponents and Roots Tutorial. It should be used in conjunction with the Exponents and Roots Tutorial. The aim of both the Tutorial and the task is to assist students to independently become 100% comfortable with their calculator. The aim of the task is DIY for students.
The task can be used as teacher assessment, peer assessment or self assessment at the end of a fractions and decimals unit of work.
