These Spanish Task Cards are geared towards spring activities, vacations and events. Situation Task Cards are a great way to get your Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4 students talking and using language creatively! (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)

There are 20 different scenarios which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. The task cards come in 3 versions! First I have a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class. The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. Slides come with helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario.

These spring-themed task cards feature scenarios for present, past and future time frames. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!

Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet and a vocab list for spring vocabulary!

This fun and engaging writing challenge will get your students to work together in small groups to produce high quality writing! What I love about writing in this format is that teachers can provide specific feedback and even a grade in about ⅕ of the time! We can improve students’ skills and confidence by using peer discussion to clear up confusion about things like conjugating verbs and word order in sentences too! This is a high impact activity to use with your students!

Looking for a GAME that will make SPEAKING FUN in Spanish class? This spring-themed speaking activity will get students using their Spanish creatively! This low-prep game, called Flower Power, will have students competing to tell stories about a spring day! Easy to differentiate and scaffold with the included teacher instructions and vocab list!

How to play:

-Students choose flowers (each flower has a spring-related word)

-Students must create a story with the words on the flowers, forcing them to think on their feet and create a logical story with random words!

The variations of this game are endless and you can play it all spring long!

This nonfiction reading about New Year’s traditions in the Spanish-speaking world is your solution! Your students in Year 2, 3, 4 or 5 will enjoy reading about some interesting traditions and superstitions surrounding New Year’s and will be able to put their own resolutions and wishes into the world!

First, students can read about 5 different traditions from Spain and Latin America. Teachers can check comprehension with a quick and easy True/False activity. It's Back To School Time! How can you get parents, guardians and families involved in your Spanish class? Use these templates to communicate with parents at the beginning of the year! The first doc is a letter for families which introduces their child’s new Spanish teacher (you!) and asks parents to tell you about their child. **Parents love to tell you about their kids and being asked let’s them know right away that you care!

The second doc is a similar letter, but tailored for the parents/guardians of AP Spanish students.

The 3rd doc is a request for guest speakers. Why not let our families know how much their life experience is valued? Send this letter to find out if there are any family members, friends or colleagues that use Spanish in their lives! **This document is part of my Spanish Back to School Survival Pack for Middle and High School bundle!!**

The 4th doc is a hand-out to give parents, perhaps at Open House Night? It lists several ways in which parents can help their child succeed in Spanish class, even if they don’t know Spanish. It’s a great way to empower parents and to give them actionable strategies to be involved with their child’s learning on a regular basis.

The last doc is a study guide template. I send this via email about a week before an important assessment. It’s a great way to keep families in the loop as we encourage them to be involved in their child’s Spanish education!

This FUN and motivating project will get your Spanish students doing some presentational speaking for a real-world purpose! Students research the tourist attractions of a Spanish-speaking country and create an ad. The purpose of the ad is to attract more tourists, but the purpose of the project is for students to learn about the wonderful places in the Spanish-speaking world and to encourage them to put these places on their "must see" list! All parts of this activity are customizable to make them just right for your students.

In this mini-project, students will choose a Spanish-speaking country. They will research the "Can't Miss" tourist destinations of the country in-depth. Next they will find images of the places and important information about the places and use them to create an advertisement. Student have many options for how they would like to put their TV ad together, including Google Slides, Screencastify and others. The goal is to make an ad that the target audience can't resist! This country is the NEXT place they plan to go on vacation!

One thing I've struggled with in the past is students not using class work time well. To solve this, I created a timeline that explains what should be accomplished during each work period. It has been very successful in terms of students being on task during class work time, and has reduced the amount of "last minute" project completion that often results in low quality work. The timeline is now included with this project!

Depending on your class size and other factors, students can share their work in 3 ways:

-instead of recording their audio into their commercial, they can present live!

-they can record their audio, and the teacher can play each one for the class

-*This is what I usually do! I ask students to set up their computers on their desks, open to their presentation. Students switch seats and watch a number of ads that their classmates created. It ads more student choice and more engagement!

Spanish Reading Comprehension Game: Magic 6's CI Sabor Express

What to turn your Spanish reading comprehension or grammar review into a game? Using CI to give your students contextualized, comprehensible input? This Magic 6’s game will motivate, engage and deliver all the CI your students need! Students will fill in a cloze-style reading with verbs that need to be in the present tense. But they are racing their opponent! This adds interest and a bit of drama to the activity, keeping students fully engaged!

The reading is about a new restaurant in town called Sabor Express. Students will take turns rolling a die to get a 6, or filling in the answers. Once a student has rolled a 6, they must give the pencil to their opponent. While they have the pencil they must read in context to figure out what verb form is needed. When they get to the end, there are several comprehension questions about the reading itself.

This reading is meant for Intermediate Low students. It focuses on restaurant, health and illness vocabulary and present tense. This resource also comes with a present tense “cheat sheet” for students who need support or differentiation. Any part of this resource can be customized for your students if needed! The teacher answer key and detailed instructions are also included. It’s everything you need for a high energy class with lots of CI, but low energy for you!

Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking? Are they struggling to have conversations in Spanish? Let’s give them some guided support with these partner conversations about childhood! Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.

There are 4 guided conversations, differentiated between Novice and Intermediate levels. There are 2 conversations for each, so both students will have a chance to ask and answer questions in a conversational way.

These conversations focus on what life was like when they were younger. The primary time frame is past (imperfect), but in the intermediate versions, the present tense is also required.

Who can use this product?

Spanish students in year 2 and up

How can I use this product?

Students will work in partners to participate in a guided conversation
Students will trade roles so both can practice asking questions and answering questions
Teachers can assign these conversations as practice or as an assessment
Students can practice the same conversations with multiple partners to increase comfort and proficiency!

What to turn your Spanish reading comprehension and listening comprehension into a game? Using CI to give your students contextualized, comprehensible input? This Dictado (Dictation) game will motivate, engage and deliver all the CI your students need! Students will fill work in pairs to fill in a graphic organizer with a story. Person A must run to the wall to read, and then rush back and tell their partner (Person B) what to write! They are racing their opponents! This adds interest and a bit of drama to the activity, keeping students fully engaged!

The reading is about a teen who changes habits from an unhealthy to a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise.

This reading is meant for Intermediate Low students. It focuses on health, diet and exercise vocabulary and present tense. This resource also comes with teacher notes for how to set up the game and how to provide differentiation for students ready for a greater challenge. Any part of this resource can be customized for your students if needed! It’s everything you need for a high energy class with lots of CI, but low energy for you!

Break students into pairs

Is reading comprehension getting boring in your Spanish class? Turn it into a game! This story about a futuristic invention goes from dull to exciting as students work together and move around the room! This is a simple “print and go” with no work for the teacher!

The students play the role of a reporter assigned to covering a big scoop! They have to read all 10 parts of the story to get the full picture of what to report about. While they read the parts, they are also looking for “code words”. Students record the code words on a special answer sheet that will eventually lead them to solving the mystery of how this invention will change life in the future! It’s so much fun!

After, you can decide which of the 3 follow-up activities you want to do with your students. Included: a True or False Activity, Fill in the Blanks Activity and Tell Me in Your Own Words Activity. Answer keys are also included. Best of all? If there’s something you’d like to change for your students, you are free to edit!
