This product was made for students to learn about the 50 states, the spelling of each state, and each state's abbreviation. This product includes slides that are made up of the states that begin with the same letter on each slide, as these states can be confusing. For example: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas as well as their abbreviations so students can see the difference. Slides that show states that don't have any similarities, like Georgia, and states that have two words, like New York, are also addressed.

Each slide is provided with the state name and the abbreviation. Students can attempt to fill in the blanks of the abbreviations that were reviewed on each previous slide as well. This helps students to learn the spelling, abbreviations, and location of each state. This product can be used for students who benefit from having material adapted and it can also be used with students who are on grade level as well.

The Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Unit is part of my Field Trip Unit Series. The series was created with homeschoolers in mind, but can be adapted to be used in a classroom as well. Field trips are a great way to supplement learning, but often homeschoolers don’t get any background information on the location of their field trip and want to enrich their experience by expanding the learning at home before and after the trip. These units help give information and fun activities before and after the field trip.

These units are available in PreK/Kinder, Elementary, and Middle & High School levels. All Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Units follow the same outline and the parent/teacher info sheet is the same for all three so that if you have children of several ages, you can seamlessly teach them together. Being a new teacher or even teaching a new course can be so overwhelming and so time consuming.  Even districts that have textbooks don’t always provide all of the individual activities students need for practice in building both performance and proficiency.  These lesson plans are designed for about 5 weeks (5 classes a week) for any curriculum teaching about travel and vacations and the past (preterite) tense. These lesson plans combine all of the best practices of World Language Instruction.  Grammar is embedded into comprehensible input, but specific notes and practices for grammar are also provided.  There are TONS of contextualized practices to increase proficiency, but there are also discrete practices to help students memorize vocabulary and endings to help them along faster! I try to marry performance (being able to communicate on a very specific topic) with proficiency (a person’s overall ability to communicate).

Why should you trust me?  I have 23 years of experience as a high school Spanish teacher in years 1, 2, 3, 4 and AP Spanish.   I have taught both with and without textbooks.  Once the pandemic hit and we did not have access to our resources at school, I created most of the materials my students needed on my own. This is a 10-15 day CROSS CURRICULUM lesson! It includes tasks from Math, LA, Science, Art, Social Studies, and more! There are two different videos that I have included.

The scenario: we have to leave Earth because of pollution. Students are part of the New Beginnings Mission and they must settle a colony on a new planet. Tasks include map making, decimal multiplication, scale drawings, team building, geometric drawings, research, measurement conversions, and more. It is presented in PowerPoint format. The first slide is an overview. All worksheets are included as slides that can be printed. There are also instructions included in the notes section of each slide.
