INSTRUCTIONS:

Mystery picture

♣ Print out 1 mystery picture per student.

♣ Students cut up the answer tiles and then place them on the correct question tiles to match the words with the definitions.

♣ They can glue the question tiles onto the answer tiles and color the picture too.

Halloween Sudoku

♣ Print out 1 sudoku per student.

♣ Students cut off the right side of the sheet along the dotted line and cut out the missing sudoku pictures. They glue them into the sudoku grid so that all 6 words appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame.

♣ Each word must appear in each row, column and 2x3 frame only once.

♣ Check with the whole class - students have to name in English all pictures in the given row, column or 2x3 frame.

Your middle schoolers are bored and tired of the same coloring sheets, crosswords, and pumpkin cutouts they've seriously been doing for years. Do them a favor and switch up your Halloween routine with this fun project-based Halloween unit which features cross-curricular content in math and language arts.

In this unit, you (or your sub!) can easily lead an independent, self-guided project for your middle-school students in grades 4 through 8. As with all of my products, you'll never see frilly hard-to-read fonts or babyish images. My products are intended for your students who think they're adults, but aren't quite there! They're loaded with examples and easy-to-understand language.

In this 13-page resource, you'll find the following activities, templates, prompts, examples and tasks that will keep them busy for days!

• "Une maison hantée thématique" - An activity that will get your students brainstorming a theme for their haunted house and a final reflexive activity on making their choice.

• "Donnez des frissons!" - An activity intended to have students stick to their "theme" and give details about the different rooms or areas within their haunted house. This activity should bring to life their design and concept.

It’s Halloween in the spooky town of Mathigan, and something is terribly wrong with the candy being handed out. When the children eat it, they are transformed into real Halloween monsters! One of the town’s monsters has cursed the candy, and it's up to your students to solve the case. Using math skills, students will work through five clues to narrow down a list of ten suspects and discover who is behind the curse.

Students begin by reading the backstory of the cursed candy mystery, where they learn about the strange happenings in Mathigan and the list of 10 possible suspects, each with unique motives and magical items. This Algebra 1/PreAlgebra Math Skills Halloween Escape Room is completely SELF CHECKING (and printable) and includes 40 questions to help Spencer's spirit get free from your school! Students will complete 4 multiple choice questions in each of the 10 rooms covering math skills that are covered in Pre Algebra, including order of operations, linear equations, exponents, GCF, LCM, square roots, decimals, percentages & fractions, the coordinate plan, irregular shapes and simple proportions! They'll be able to think about what their anxiety tells them, what it stops them from doing, and when it shows up most. Students will be able to list their top ten worries, brainstorm coping skills, and practice a fun breathing technique. Looking to do something a little different with your Middle-schoolers this Halloween? This independent reading, writing and researching unit will have your students better understanding Halloween's origins, traditions and cultural rites and customs. This is an ideal unit if you're not looking to do anything cross-curricular and are a language arts teacher. It's quiet and reflexive with a final presentation showcasing their discovery. It would be amazing to leave with a sub!

Reflection, reading and assessment activities are not time-consuming; however, I give my students 2-3 classes to research, and plan for 2 days of presentations. This could very well cover you for Hallo-week .
