SUMMARY:

Euripides' Medea highlights a powerful witch and magician herself. She fell in love with Jason when he came to Colchis with the Argonauts to steal the Golden Fleece from her father. In fact, Medea was so in love that she betrayed her family and abandoned her homeland, helping Jason steal the Golden Fleece and then running away with him to Greece.

Though she was highly devoted, Medea could also be dangerous and overbearing. She went to extreme lengths to help Jason, killing her own brother and later brutally murdering Jason’s uncle Pelias for stealing Jason’s throne. Despite all this, Jason eventually left Medea to marry another woman. Medea used her skills to take revenge on Jason. Did her revenge go too far?

AN OCCURRENCE AT OWL CREEK BRIDGE [LESSON ACTIVITIES]

By Richard B Williams

This "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" [LESSON ACTIVITIES] product allows students to look at themselves and our society. 40+ Slides, Several projects, Group Activities, Graphic Organizers, VIDEO assignments, and Short Response Assignments are activities in this product. This narrative encourages insightful responses from work. 10th - 12th Graders will love this prose and product. Check it out!

**NOTE: This product has slides intended to be shown on a Promethean Board, while students are working to keep them on task; some of its activities are in a different format and are available in the BUNDLE.**

SUMMARY:

O'Flaherty's "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" identifies a young planter in northern Alabama during the American Civil War. He is a Confederate slave owner who risks it all to aid the Confederates with dire consequences. “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” is divided into three sections. Section I is in the present and past, as we learn about the bridge and why he's there. Section II is a flashback of where the political protagonist is coming from and what led to his demise. Section III brings us back to the present, where we see the consequences of Farquhar's (the protagonist) risky actions. What can we learn from war? Does it have a toll on us?
