By Zaazoua Mostapha
Make your ESL biology classroom look different from a regular education room by considering these flashcards animals' common & scientific names.
Each card takes up 1/12 of a page so they are nice and big, but not too obtrusive. There are 84 animals for a total of 7 pages ( 12 cards per page). Check out the preview of some pages in the pictures. They each feature the common name in English and the scientific name. To help aid meaning, I've included colored real pictures.
The 84 animals included are: Ant, Arabian camel, African elephant, Albatross, Alpaca, Asian Elephant, Bat, Bird, Brown Tree Snake, Gaur, Goat, Bear, Polar bear, Sun bear, Blackbuck, Black rat, Buffalo, Bulbul, Butterfly, Cat, Cheetah, Chinkara, Cobra, Cockroach, Common Myna, Cow, Crocodile, Deer, Dog, Dolphin, Eagle, Elephant, Fish, Red fox, Gavial or Gharial, Giraffe, Great horned owl, Hen, Hippopotamus, Horse, House crow, Housefly, House mouse, House sparrow, House wall Lizard, Indian Cobra, Parrot, Indian Python, Kashmir stag or hangul, King cobra, Koel, Leopard or panther, Monkey, Mosquito, Lion, Lizard, Nilgai, Peacock, Pig, Prawn, Rabbit, Rat, Rat snake, Rattle snake, Rhesus monkey, Rhinoceros, Sea snake, Sheep, Siberian crane, Snakehead, Sparrow, Spider, Starfish, Tiger, Tiger Snake, Wild Ass, Wild boar, Wolf, Zebra, Earthworm, Grasshopper, Honey Bee, Pigeon, Snake.

Ultimate Guide to Mitosis (graphic organizer, handout, study guide)
By Stephanie O.
Lay out clearly and concisely what you want your students to know about each phase of mitosis, using this handy chart.
This table maps out the exact breakdown I use with my tutoring students if they've been overwhelmed or stumped by their biology teacher's explanation.
What's included:
+ key events in prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase
+ vocabulary definitions
+ color-coding mnemonics to aid understanding (prophase and telophase mirror each other!)
+ BONUS: cytokinesis (and how it differs in animal cells vs plant cells)
Example uses:
+ add it to the end of your lecture notes as a recap
+ hand it out as a supplement to practice questions on identifying what stage of mitosis a cell is in based on a microscopy image or a sketch
+ provide it as a summary study guide for a unit test on mitosis
Suited for intro high school biology, AP Biology, IB Biology SL/HL, intro college biology, and MCAT.
