By Chirp Chirp Education

Enhance your students' early literacy skills with these engaging Beginning Sounds Worksheets - Letter Sound Coloring Pages! This educational resource is designed to help young learners practice and reinforce their understanding of letter sounds in a fun and interactive way.

The worksheets focus on identifying the beginning sound of different words and coloring the corresponding pictures. By connecting letters with their sounds through coloring, students can strengthen their phonemic awareness and letter-sound recognition skills.

What you get in this package.

- 26 pages in PDF

- An option to use EASEL in TeachShare as digital tool.

Key Benefits:

1. Phonemic Awareness Development: These worksheets are an effective tool for developing phonemic awareness in students. By focusing on the initial sounds of words and coloring the corresponding picture, students can practice identifying and distinguishing sounds in words.

2. Fine Motor Skill Enhancement: Coloring the letter sound pictures on the worksheets promotes the development of fine motor skills in young learners. Students engage in precise hand movements and build hand-eye coordination while completing the coloring tasks.

3. Visual Recognition: The visual nature of the worksheets encourages students to pay attention to the shape of letters and the pictures representing beginning sounds. This visual reinforcement aids in letter recognition and comprehension.

4. Engaging and Interactive Learning: With appealing illustrations and interactive tasks, these worksheets make learning letter sounds enjoyable for students. The coloring element adds a creative and engaging aspect to the activities, keeping students motivated and attentive.

How to Use:

• Provide each student with a worksheet and a set of crayons or colored pencils.

• Instruct students to identify the beginning sound of each word and color the corresponding pictures accordingly.

• Encourage students to say the word aloud as they color, reinforcing their understanding of letter sounds.

Extension idea:

Students can color them all, then cut out the ones that started with the letter in question and glue them on another page.

Group Creative Writing: Practice Character, Setting, Conflict, & Resolution

By E•Fish•ient Teaching

This is such a fun creative writing activity. This activity has students work in a small group to create a fun and unique story. They will be passing around their writing outline to their group of 5. The first student will choose a character and their characteristics. Then fold the paper down so the next student cannot see what they have written. Student 2 will decide the setting and then fold the paper down again. This will continue to student 3 and 4 where they will choose the conflict and the solution. Then the original student will get their paper back and open their paper and use their outline to create their own creative story. This makes the writing a little bit challenging as they try to create a story that was chosen by their fellow classmates. This can also be a super fun and creative way to expand students writing by stretching them a little outside their comfort zone.

Apostrophes in Contractions | Grammar Task Cards | Perfect Contractions!

By TaughtOught Homeschooling

Students struggle with learning contractions in English grammar because there is so much to remember: What are contraction words? Where does the apostrophe go? What is an apostrophe? What words come together to make contractions? What is the rule for using contractions?

This resource is a one-stop shop for a fully-comprehensive study of contraction grammar activities. Students will learn the rule of contractions in an easy flow format. These self-guiding task cards are broken down into small steps so students can learn independently and grow confident grammar skills.

NOTE REGARDING DIGITAL TASK CARDS: For use with Google Forms™

Students use these task cards to first clearly identify apostrophes and then contractions. Then, students will learn the rule for turning the words will, is, not, am, are, have, and would into contractions (including exactly where that apostrophe lives!) Once students understand that only the second word of a contraction changes, they are ready to build and break down contractions. After several activities to drill in this concept, students have the opportunity to review what they’ve learned.

This resource includes:

   ✏ 12 instructional cards

   ✏ 56 color-coded printable task cards

✏ 66 digital task cards (with built-in reward system and completion certificate)

✏ task cards include contraction review activities

   ✏ fully comprehensive lessons

✏ broken down tasks for self-guided independent learning

✏ No prep! Simply log into Google Forms_™_ OR print and distribute (laminate for long-term use).
