This Functional Job Skills - Filing Work Task Box Bundle includes filing by color and alphabetically. How/When To Use the Growth vs. Fixed Mindset Scenario Task Cards

• Mini Lesson / Guided Practice / Do Now: You can use 1-2 scenarios to teach/show students the difference between a Growth Mindset and a Fixed Mindset, or you can use them as a launch activity to prepare students for an upcoming lesson.
• Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate the differences between a fixed mindset and growth mindset. Role-playing activities can be used to expose students to the variety of ways they can approach situations with a growth mindset. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
• Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
• Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skit for the class.
• Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios.
• Discussion: Students can discuss the Fixed vs. Growth Mindset Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like “What would you do?”, “Why would you do that?”, and “What are some other ways you can approach this situation with a growth mindset?”

Taking risks is fairly common in adolescence. Yet, risky behaviors can be associated with serious, long-term, and – in some cases – life threatening consequences. This is especially the case when adolescents engage in more than one harmful behavior. The time will come in almost every teen’s life when they will be confronted with situations that tempt them to engage in risky behaviors. As educators, the best thing we can do is develop their understanding of the consequences associated with various risky behaviors and equip them with tools to say no and to protect themselves. Through ongoing meaningful practices and discussions, we can enhance their understanding of the consequences of risky behaviors and help them prevent themselves from engaging in them.

Making social inferences means understanding information that is inferred or not directly stated. It involves observing a situation, then using clues with background knowledge to figure out what has happened or what is happening. The ability to make social inferences is an essential social skill. The pictures are designed for middle and high school students with images of both younger and older people to help you better differentiate for your students.

Use these 30 pictures, in a variety of ways, to help students make social inferences and develop a social understanding of what they see. Students can use these pictures to develop an understanding of what people’s situations are, what their intentions are, how they are feeling, what they are thinking, and what is likely to happen next. The pictures are relevant and represent every day living.

DESCRIPTION

PowerPoint - 30 Slides/Editable

• This resource includes a 30 slide editable PowerPoint. Each PowerPoint slide contains an amazing background with the pictures. You can move or resize the pictures any way you like and even add text! This PowerPoint should help you get started on developing your lesson. The PowerPoint can even be used for picture analysis and help facilitate discussion!

• If you work with children with severe disabilities or kids who struggle significantly with writing, a “Just Pictures” section is included. This will allow all students a chance to make social inferences. • These worksheets include the pictures with a blank T-Chart ("Social Inference" is titled in the first column, and "Picture Evidence" is titled in the second column). The directions ask students to make three social inferences and support their inferences with evidence from the pictures.

• These worksheets also include a T-Chart table that is partially filled to help get students who need the additional support thinking. The table includes (or provides) one social inference, where students only need to add the evidence. Then they make one social inference and support it with a piece of picture evidence on their own.

Arguments, disagreements, and disputes are all too common! This resource is designed to help you teach your students how to solve problems without fighting, becoming aggressive, or escalating problems. The scenarios in this packet provide opportunities for students to learn and practice conflict resolution skills. These variety of Conflict Resolution scenarios exposes your students to potentially explosive scenarios and situations where they can brainstorm resolution strategies and practice how to resolve them peacefully and maturely.

Conflict resolution is an important skill for students to learn, understand, and apply. This huge packet encourages students to brainstorm solutions, practice to positively, peacefully, and effectively manage and resolve conflicts, take responsibility of their own actions, avoid risky behaviors and/or navigate their way out of them, communicate effectively, and most importantly, recognize and develop awareness of their own unique responses to conflict – and share these strategies with their peers.
