Pancake Days Math Themed Activities and Centers - Students will develop their Early numeracy skills of counting, number identification, graphing, addition & subtraction, & making 10.

Print and Laminate materials from this packet for students to use in math centers, or for additional practice with groups or direct instruction. These materials can be utilized in a variety of ways to provide differentiation for your students!

Number Identification - Pancakes with numbers 1-30.

• Students can use the pancake flipper to "cook" the requested number and place on a plate (dice also included).
• Work on number identification by providing a choice of 2,3,or 4 options.
  Place pancakes on the griddle. Students can use the flipper to get / or flip the correct pancake.
• Place the correct pancake number in the pan.
• Use the pancakes to work on number order too!

Graphing - Students can graph either 3 or 5 items. You will need to print and prep the dice prior to graphing activities.

• Graphing mats included in color and BW
• Roll and graph.

Addition -

• Roll a dice (2x), add the pancakes together. Use a griddle to count pancakes you are adding and determine the sum.
• Make 10 cards - Print and laminate these materials for extended use. If students need visual supports they can use an expo marker to fill the 10 frame. How many more were needed to make 10.

Subtraction -

• Word problems with manipulative pancakes and person to feed. Count out the appropriate amount of pancakes, then feed your person to determine the differences.
• BW worksheets - students will cross out when subtracting pancakes. Determine the difference.

2 Digit Addition No Regrouping with Base 10 Blocks for Google Slides

This resource includes 38 interactive Google slides, 4 printable worksheets, and Easel Ready Activity for students to practice adding double digit numbers without regrouping. This math center uses the place value strategy of base 10 blocks to practice solving addition problems with 2 digit addends up to 100. 

The interactive slides allow students to drag moveable base-10 blocks into the tens and ones place to model the addition problem. 

The resource also includes a blank worksheet template as well as a blank slides template to create additional problems for your students!

The slides and worksheets are divided into two differentiated levels. The first resource allows students to practice adding double digit numbers with sums up to 50 and the second resource allows students to practice adding double digit numbers with sums from 50-100. Each slideshow contains a video link that models how to add double digit numbers using base-10 blocks. 

This resource can be used in Google Classroom for math centers, independent practice, distance learning, or for small group mini-lesson. In addition, this can be used as a teaching resource for a whole class lesson.  Simply project the Google Slides presentation on the whiteboard, use the moveable pieces to model each problem, and give students the worksheet or place value mat to follow along with the lesson. 

Students will understand how to add two digit numbers without regrouping using Base-10 blocks.

This fall addition activity is a fun and engaging hands on math center for students to practice addition facts using number bonds, tens frames, number lines or number sentences to solve each addition problem using objects as counters on math mats. How to Use:

Depending on the exact addition skill being taught, teachers will choose one of the addition mats for students to use to work on each addition problem. Counters should be provided to assist students with solving each addition equation. Students will draw one math fact card and solve it using the counters on the math mat. There is a recording sheet available should the teacher wish for students to record the addition facts they solved.

These addition cards make a great task box activity. The cards and counters can be stored in the same box for easy set up, clean up and storage.

This autumn addition center is a low prep activity for teachers to prepare for students. The addition mats just need to be printed and laminated for durability. The task cards need to be printed and cut apart.

Dice Addition Clip Cards: Numbers 1-12; 2 Dice Version

These dice addition clip cards are a great tool to use:

• As an assessment tool for measuring understanding of early numeracy, addition skills, and even as a subitizing piece.
• As an addition to your morning bins, busy bins, or as an activity for early finishers.
• As an addition to your math centers as a single activity or as a game (2 variations suggestion within file).

To enhance student understanding or to provide differentiation for your students, these can be used with real dice for students to match and count.

These cards are black and white, making them easy to print and play from anywhere.

Cross and toss is a dice game that allows students to practice their addition or multiplications facts in a fun way.

Students take turns rolling two dice and add the numbers shown. Then they cover or cross that number on the recording sheet provided.

This Bingo game is a great game to support students learn addition facts! This is a great game for a whole class approach or center activities.

The caller reads the number equation, and the players cross off the correct answer.

There are a number of addition fact cards for each correct answer response for numbers 1-20. This has been developed in case students are not aware of the correct answer and then they are given another opportunity.

There are over 40 different mats for larger classes and there are 72 addition fact cards included.
