One option is to practice writing the week's words by tracing and copying the word (pages 11 to 14), while the second option is to try to formulate sentences and be creative with the word of the day, as half of the sheet is left blank to let the student creatively draw the word or illustrate the sentences they wrote above (pages 7 to 10).

This activity works with the 4 frequently used words from module 1 of the HMH Kindergarten program. Modules 2 through 3 consist of 12 words each, and Modules 4 to 9 consist of 16 words each 3 words. Every module is 4 weeks long and the program consists of 9 modules (36 weeks).

Each word will be worked on in 9 different ways:

Activities include reading, locating and counting sight words in the text, answering questions about the text, illustrating the story, filling in missing words from sentences that are from the text, creating a sentence for each sight word, creating a story using the five words, and defining each word. 6. Contar el número de sílabas de la palabra.
7. Hacer que la palabra del día sea única con el uso de lápices de colores.
8. Espacio en blanco para ser creativo con los lápices de colores.

Si se elije el reverso de crear oraciones, páginas 11 y 12, sería conveniente no recortar las letras del anverso hasta haber completado dichas oraciones, para que así sigan teniendo la ayuda mostrada en la parte baja de la página de cómo se escribe cada palabra.

Cada palabra se trabajará de 8 formas diferentes:

1. Lectura de la palabra, sus sonidos y sílabas.
2. Trazo de las letras que componen la palabra.
3. Búsqueda de la palabra entre otras palabras de uso frequente.
4. Rellena los bloques con cada una de las letras de la palabra.
5. Ordenar las fichas con letras para formar la palabra.
6. Contar el número de sílabas de la palabra.
7. Hacer que la palabra del día sea única con el uso de lápices de colores.
8. Espacio en blanco para ser creativo con los lápices de colores.

Si se elije el reverso de crear oraciones, páginas 15 a 18, sería conveniente no recortar las letrasdel anverso hasta haber completado dichas oraciones, para que así sigan teniendo la ayuda mostrada en la parte baja de la página de cómo se escribe cada palabra.
