How to Play

Where's the Penguin? is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a penguin is hidden behind a snowball. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the letter they think the penguin is behind. Once guessed, the letter is removed. If the penguin is behind the snowball, then the penguin must be hidden again to play further. If the penguin is not behind the snowball, then the poem is chanted again with a new letter. This game has letters in both capital and lowercase forms.

This snowy night game or mat is for matching the upper case letter on the snowmen to the lower case letter on the snowflakes. It now includes worksheets and is perfect for early learning in a center or individual work during the long cold winter!

Included in this Game...

• 2 Worksheets (to fill in the alphabet for upper and lower case)

SUGGESTION: This game board could be mounted inside a file folder or printed on cardstock and laminated together for durability.

UPDATE: (11/27/2017) This has been updated to now include a black & white version of the entire game. This update can NOT be seen in the preview, but is shown in 1 of the thumbnails.

UPDATE: (10/25/2020) There has been an addition of 2 worksheets to fill in the blank with the missing letters for both upper and lower case. It also has a easier to read font for early learners with proper letter formation. You can see the entire resource in the preview.

Snow Globe Beginning Sound Matching Game

This game is perfect for your winter literacy centers! Print, cut, and laminate snow globes and snowmen hats. Students will find the matching letter to the beginning sounds and place them on the snow globe.

Winter themed Color by CVC Word puzzles covering short a, e, i, o, and u word families. Each color by word puzzle features 4 to 5 CVC words for a vowel family in two difficulty levels for 10 puzzles total. I've included both a picture clue set and a word clue set. In the picture clue set, students look at the picture of the word and then find the corresponding word to color. In the word clue set, students have the CVC word to look at and find the matching word to color in the puzzle. No prep! Just print and go.
