The Haunted House Multiplication Escape is a low-prep, high-engagement activity that aligns with CCSS.4.NBT.B.5.

  • 6 Chilling Clues: including word problems, crossword puzzle and a mix of 2-digit, 3-digit, and 4-digit multiplication problems to test different skill levels.

  4. Key to Escape: If the answer is correct, students cut out the box at the top right corner of the clue sheet (the "key") then stick the "key" onto their escape sheet.
  5. On to the Next Challenge: Once they have the "key," provide the next clue sheet (or envelope) for them to tackle.
  6. Escape Achieved! The first group to finish all the clues and fill their escape sheet with "keys" wins the game!

Dice Options:

  • Two multiples of 3 denominator dices
  • Two multiples of 2 denominator dices
  • One empty dice template (if you need to fill it with your own fractions)

Recording Sheets:

  • A recording sheet per fraction skill (skills covered: generating equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, ordering fractions, adding fractions, and subtracting fractions).

How to Play?

  1. Choose Your Dice:
    Decide which dice set (multiples of 3, multiples of 2, or custom) is most appropriate for the skill you want to practice.
    Print, fold, and glue the chosen dice.
  2. **Skill Selection:
    **Distribute the recording sheet that corresponds to the specific fraction skill you're focusing on (e.g., comparing fractions).
  3. **Roll and Record:
    **Students take turns rolling the dice.
    They record the fractions they roll on the recording sheet.
  4. **Practice Makes Perfect:
