Students will be complete an engaging review of sixth grade Social Studies standards. They can work with a partner, a team, or by themselves to answer questions focused on sixth grade topics: introduction (why we study history), world cultural contributions, world cultural icons, world landmarks, and economics. The BINGO boards all contain fractions in their simplest form. The calling cards are fractions that need to be reduced to their simplest form. 

Students find the greatest common factor of each fraction and divide both the numerator and denominator by the GCF to find their answer.  

Differentiated levels to meet the range of ability levels in your class. Work your way through the levels as students become more fluent in the skill of simplifying fractions.

Differentiated Calling Card Levels

Calling cards are differentiated by level. Simplifying fractions and finding equivalent fractions can be difficult for students. The differentiated levels will scaffold the skill as students build understanding and fluency with the concept of simplifying fractions.

★Level 1- Double the Simplified form (x2)

All calling cards in this level have a GCF of 2. The calling cards are double the simplified form. Students find the answer by dividing the calling card by 2/2. This level will help students gain an initial understanding of simplifying fractions and finding equivalent fractions.

★Level 2- Mixed Set 1: (x2, x3, or x5 simplified form)

All calling cards in this level have a GCF of 2, 3, or 5.  This level is designed to build off the previous level, but still scaffold the skill. Students only need to choose from 3 factors to find their answer. 

★Level 3- Mixed Challenging Set

This level contains a mixture of fraction call cards that have factors ranging from 2-10. This is the most challenging level as students will have a range of factors to choose from when simplifying the fraction.

All fraction boards include 24 fractions in their simplest form with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, & 12.

WHO? This set is designed for fourth and fifth-grade students learning to find equivalent fractions by reducing a fraction to the simplest form.

Common Core Aligned to 4th grade Number & Operations- Fraction Standard:

Explain why a fraction a/b is equivalent to a fraction (n × a)/(n × b) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.

These character traits are perfect for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade and can be used during any time of year to encourage and recognize students' positive traits.

These awards include 32 different character traits and would be particularly timely at the end of the year before you send your students off for summer vacation.

Recognize and reward your high school students' good character traits and reinforce good behavior in the classroom. These awards go really well especially if you teach character education in the classroom.

You can print on white paper, coloured paper, coloured cardstock, or have students colour them in themselves. My decision to do this is in response to so many teachers having strict colour printing budgets at their schools. I wanted to find an economical way of printing these, so teachers did not have to break the bank!

What to do:

Make copies of the awards that you would like to use, either by printing an entire set or by selecting the ones you want for printing.

Insert colour paper, white paper, or cardstock for easy printing

Fill in the child’s name that you would like to honour for the award along with date and your name.

• if they manage to snap a picture of the plant / animal / molehill, they earn an extra point
• whoever gets the most points is the winner

Looking for a simple worksheet for students to complete while watching episode 7 of Our Planet: Fresh Water?

Our Planet is a British nature documentary series made for Netflix. The series is narrated by David Attenborough and produced by Silverback Films, led by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, who also created BBC documentary series Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and The Blue Planet, in collaboration with the conservation charity World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Netflix has the free episodes of their Our Planet series on YouTube. Each episode is between 49 to 51 minutes long. I usually have students vote on which one they want to watch. You do NOT have to watch them in order.

These episodes are great for sub plans and for days where the students just need to chill, such as after field days or any weird schedule days. Make sure to read the questions to the students beforehand so that they know what information they are looking for.
