How Far Is It? - Finding Distance Using The Pythagorean Theorem Grade 8 Lesson
By EZMath
How Far Is It is an 8th grade math lesson that teaching students how to find the distance between two points on a coordinate plane using the Pythagorean Theorem. This lesson can be done with direct instruction, or as a partner/team student exploration.
Students work together to develop a strategy for finding the distance of vertical lines, horizontal lines, and diagonal lines. The lesson starts with line segments on a geo board, then moves to the coordinate plane. Students then try to find the distance without the use of a coordinate plane.
This lesson includes the following materials:
This lesson will help your students learn how to use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate the distance between any two point on a coordinate plane.
Note: This lesson does NOT teach students the distance formula, nor does it expect them to know or use it.

Area and Circumference Lesson: Notes & Practice Sheets (Modified Included)
By Modified Treasures
Do you need a lesson on Area and Circumference? This no prep, print and go set of notes and three practice sheets are a great way to introduce Area and Circumference as well as assessing comprehension and math reasoning skills. And for differentiation, there are modified versions of the notes and three practice sheets. Whether you're an educator seeking to enhance your classroom resources or a student striving for mastery, this package offers a rich blend of theory and application, bolstered by engaging visual aids and targeted practice exercises.
Our meticulously crafted notes provide a clear and concise overview of the formulas for calculating both the area and circumference of circles. Each concept is presented in an accessible format, ensuring students grasp the underlying principles with ease. Additionally, our modified version of the notes offers scaffolded support, catering to diverse learning needs and fostering inclusivity in the classroom.
But it doesn't stop there. Our practice sheets go beyond rote memorization, encouraging students to apply their newfound knowledge in practical scenarios. Each sheet features a series of visually stimulating images, prompting students to calculate both the area and circumference of circles depicted. Furthermore, our unique approach challenges students to work backward, deducing the radius and diameter from given area and circumference values using the corresponding formulas.
Included:
Area and Circumference Notes and three practice sheets (Modified versions of all included)

2D Shape Family Tree Sort Polygon Quadrilateral Triangle Poster Reference Sheet
By Epsilon Math Craft & Special Education
Students need to know how to sort 2d shapes and identify the name of each figure. This anchor chart meant to help your kids understand how we classify shapes into categories based on their attributes, a polygon hierarchy made different! I made a polygon family tree that groups polygons into families and subgroups. This helps kids see the relationships more clearly without using arrows.
This resource is well organized and it visually shows the relationships between the multiple different classifications of the polygons, triangles and quadrilaterals. It is a must have to all kinds of learners.
